Von Bildungspolitik nach Pisa kann eigentlich nicht ausgegangen werden, da klar erkennbare Akteure in der bildungspolitischen Praxis einfach fehlen: es gibt kaum identifizierbare Politiker, keine klaren Programmatiken, es gibt auch keine verlässlich operierenden Ministerien und Verwaltungen. Es gibt vor allem keine Öffentlichkeit mehr, in der die Angelegenheit des Bildungssystems in einer Art und Weise verhandelt werden, die dann in demokratisch legitimierten Formen durch den Gesetzgeber ausgesprochen und geregelt werden. Vor dem Hintergrund dieser bildungspolitisch fragwürdigen Entwicklung sind insbesondere die Ergebnisse der letzten Pisa- Studie zu interpretieren. Hat sich doch gezeigt, dass sich die Chancenungleichheit unter deutschen Schülern noch mehr verschärft hat: in keinem anderen Staat der Welt ist der Schulerfolg so stark von Einkommen und Vorbildung der Eltern abhängig ist wie in Deutschland. Das dreigliedrige Schulsystem ist offenbar nicht in der Lage, das Zusammenspiel von sozialer Herkunft und guten schulischen Lernergebnissen zu durchbrechen. Diese Erkenntnis bezieht sich vor allem auf die Gruppe der Hauptschüler. Gleich von mehreren Seiten werden derzeit Forderungen nach einer Abschaffung der Hauptschule erhoben. Motiviert zeigt sich der Verfasser dieser Arbeit in der Hinsicht, diese Thematik in das Bezugsfeld von Sozialer Arbeit zu stellen. Die Schulsozialarbeit setzt an einem Widerspruch des Bildungswesens an: einerseits dem Widerspruch zwischen dem demokratischen Gebot gleicher Bildungschancen für alle und andererseits dem von der Schule erwarteten Beitrag zur Legitimation gesellschaftlicher Statusunterschiede. Vor dem Hintergrund einer aus dieser eingegrenzten Problemstellung heraus legitimierten und handelnden Schulsozialarbeit versucht sich der Verfasser diesbezüglich mit der Fragestellung auseinander zu setzen, ob es einerseits unter der gegenwärtigen Bildungsstruktur noch gelingen kann, eine glaubhafte Perspektive für die Hauptschule zu liefern. Und in wie weit kann auf der anderen Seite Schulsozialarbeit intervenieren, um Strukturproblemen und den damit verbundenen Chancenungleichheiten zu begegnen. Kann Schulsozialarbeit überhaupt eine Antwort auf die problematische Strukturfrage sein?

While a number of survey articles and sporadic book chapters have appeared on the subject, to the best of my knowledge this book represents the first volume of contributed essays on conjoint analysis. The book re flects not only the geographical diversity of its contributors but also the variety and depth of their topics. The development of conjoint analysis and its application to marketing and business research is noteworthy, both in its eclectic roots (psychometrics, statistics, operations research, economics) and the fact that its development reflects the efforts of a large variety of professionals -academics, market ing research consultants, industry practitioners, and software developers. Reasons for the early success and diffusion of conjoint analysis are not hard to find. First, by the early sixties, precursory psychometric techniques (e.g., multidimensional scaling and correspondence analysis, cluster analy sis, and general multivariate techniques) had already shown their value in practical business research and application. Second, conjoint analysis pro vided a new and powerful array of methods for tackling the important problem of representing and predicting buyer preference judgments and choice behavior-clearly a major problem area in marketing.
