Book Synopsis The Good News of the Return of the King by : Michael T. Jahosky
Download or read book The Good News of the Return of the King written by Michael T. Jahosky and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-09-15 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although many people today reject Christianity for intellectual reasons, greater numbers of people are rejecting Christianity because it does not engage their imagination. Christians must not only demonstrate that the Christian worldview is true, but that it is also good, beautiful, and relevant. The Good News of the Return of the King: The Gospel in Middle-earth is a book that endeavors to show the truth, goodness, and beauty of Jesus Christ, the gospel, and the biblical metanarrative by engaging the imagination through J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, as well as The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. In this book, I propose that J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is a story about what Jesus’ parables are about: the good news about the return of the king. As a work of imaginative fiction similar to Jesus’ parables, The Lord of the Rings can bypass both intellectual and imaginative objections to the gospel and pull back the “veil of familiarity” that obscures the gospel for many.

Book Synopsis Murder Orthodoxies: A Non-ConspiracistÕs View of Marilyn MonroeÕs Death by : Donald R. McGovern
Download or read book Murder Orthodoxies: A Non-ConspiracistÕs View of Marilyn MonroeÕs Death written by Donald R. McGovern and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps no one's death has stirred more interest, controversy, and theories than Marilyn Monroe's August 4 of 1962. In Murder Orthodoxies, author Donald R. McGovern analyzes and examines the many theories that Monroe was murdered by a host of curious characters-from the middle Kennedy brothers to brutal gangsters to aliens. McGovern separates fact from fiction and theory from outlandish rumor. He addresses and debunks the usual allegations related to Monroe's death, the secrets recorded in her little red diary, her scheduled whistle-blowing press conference, the murder plots by organized crime and the brothers Kennedy, and the fatal injection of drugs, along with many others. In Murder Orthodoxies, McGovern restores logic and sanity to the investigation of Monroe's death. His thesis is based upon the premise that the engines of conspiracies are started and fueled by opinion, not by facts. His credible conclusions are based on logic, science, toxicology, and forensic evidence.
Book Synopsis Stephen King in the New Millennium by : Despoina N. Feleki
Download or read book Stephen King in the New Millennium written by Despoina N. Feleki and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-06-11 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exciting exploration of Stephen King’s digital writing maneuvers and electronic ventures on online platforms and e-readers unravels the author’s latest writing techniques and justifies his unprecedented success in the new millennium. It investigates the latest additions to the Master of Horror’s “toolbox” by studying King’s media presence and writing oeuvre in the twenty-first century through online projects, such as his videogame Discordia. The book closely traces King’s shifts from print to the digital as he crafts his stories to share with his constant readers. Its examination of King’s re-vitalized Gothic sheds light on his shift towards new realizations that take into consideration the needs and tastes of the contemporary consuming public in a constant dialogue with their contemporary fears and anxieties. While exploring King’s literary generic and technological crossovers, the book stresses the need for an encompassing theory that takes into account literary tradition, norms, and motifs adjusted according to the materialities and technological specificities of each medium in specific socio-cultural and economic contexts.

Download or read book Write for the King of Glory 2nd Edition written by Mary C. Findley and published by Findley Family Video Publications. This book was released on with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Share the fruits of my first five years of publishing. Learn about blogging, writing, cover design, editing, marketing, and find a bunch of great resources to help you in your publishing journey, many of them free. I'm not the be-all and end all of Christian publishing, but I'm here to help, and so are a bunch of other Christian writers and service providers. You know what a net is. It catches things. To a fish or a bird, it's a bad thing. But to an indie author, it's a good thing. Out there online, there are people who will be your net as you learn how to publish. I'm talking about the kind of net that keeps acrobats from squishing when they miss that swing or those hands high up there in the air. But my biggest piece of advice is to concentrate on finding other Christians. You need to find some warm, loving, encouraging, snuggly-blanket-type people you can seek out when you just don't know what to do.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stephen King is one of the most successful authors in the history of American literature. His books--including 55 novels, 12 novellas, nine short story collections and a children's book--have sold 350 million copies worldwide. Over the past five decades his broader impact on popular culture has been immense. Most of his works have been adapted for film or television (some of them by King himself) and he may fairly be credited with single-handedly reinventing horror, once considered a B movie genre, for mainstream readership. This collection of original interviews with fellow authors, collaborators and critics covers all things King, from analyses of his best writing to his many screen adaptations to recurring themes in his stories.
