To adopt new structures, adapt to changing situations and implement new systems requires innovative, flexible, visionary leaders. This is a learner-focused manual for training Emerging Business Leaders. It is not meant to be a scholarly dissertation, but a how and what to do manual or handbook. The manual is designed to empower a new kind of business leader - one that may have 7-10 careers during a fast-paced lifetime. Even though technology has a profound influence on business formation and operations, there are eternal principles that ultimately overshadow all else. What principles should guide their service as leaders? How do they make wise decisions and deal with sin in the community? Robert M. Solomon, a former Bishop of the Methodist Church in Singapore, addresses these questions and others in this exposition of the book of Nehemiah. See how the governor of Judea leads the rebuilding of the temple, deals with disobedience and disunity, handles administrative details, and institutes reforms in the face of external opposition and internal strife. Whether you’re a pastor, church or ministry leader, missionary, parent, teacher, or manager in your workplace, this book can offer you biblical lessons on leading, guiding, and caring for others while staying focused on worship, the Word, and your walk with the Lord.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the beginning of missionary efforts in Japan in the sixteenth century, the Japanese church has experienced periods of quiet flourishing and periods of intense persecution. Arguably, however, it has never managed to take root as a truly indigenous church-despite great effort toward that aim. In Multiplying Churches in Japanese Soil, John Mehn asks the question: Why? What factors have contributed to the Japanese remaining largely unreached? Mehn examines the current state of affairs and then, with some careful analysis and case study, delves into effective models and leadership for planting churches in Japan that not only grow, but are also equipped to reproduce and multiply. Within these pages, discover mission strategy, kingdom perspective, and hope for the church in Japanese soil.

Book excerpt: "Like all empires, Japan’s prewar empire encompassed diverse territories as well as a variety of political forms for governing such spaces. This book focuses on Japan’s Kwantung Leasehold and Railway Zone in China’s three northeastern provinces. The hybrid nature of the leasehold’s political status vis-à-vis the metropole, the presence of the semipublic and enormously powerful South Manchuria Railway Company, and the region’s vulnerability to inter-imperial rivalries, intra-imperial competition, and Chinese nationalism throughout the first decades of the twentieth century combined to give rise to a distinctive type of settler politics. Settlers sought inclusion within a broad Japanese imperial sphere while successfully utilizing the continental space as a site for political and social innovation. In this study, Emer O’Dwyer traces the history of Japan’s prewar Manchurian empire over four decades, mapping how South Manchuria—and especially its principal city, Dairen—was naturalized as a Japanese space and revealing how this process ultimately contributed to the success of the Japanese army’s early 1930s takeover of Manchuria. Simultaneously, Significant Soil demonstrates the conditional nature of popular support for Kwantung Army state-building in Manchukuo, highlighting the settlers’ determination that the Kwantung Leasehold and Railway Zone remain separate from the project of total empire."
