Book Synopsis Kinematic Methods in High-energy Physics by : Vitaliĭ Iosifovich Golʹdanskiĭ
Download or read book Kinematic Methods in High-energy Physics written by Vitaliĭ Iosifovich Golʹdanskiĭ and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1989 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nice monograph intended to serve the practical needs of graduate students and researchers. Detail and coverage in good balance; in seven chapters treats relativistic fundamentals, the kinematics of two-particle and three-particle decays, multiple hadron production (including statistical, thermodynamics and hydrodynamic models) and related topics. For the price (which will keep the book out of the hands of many of those to whom it is addressed) one might have expected professionally-drawn figures and mathematical typography a bit easier on the eye. Book Synopsis Introduction to High Energy Physics by : Donald H. Perkins
Download or read book Introduction to High Energy Physics written by Donald H. Perkins and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2000-04-13 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This highly-regarded text provides a comprehensive introduction to modern particle physics. Extensively rewritten and updated, this 4th edition includes developments in elementary particle physics, as well as its connections with cosmology and astrophysics. As in previous editions, the balance between experiment and theory is continually emphasised. The stress is on the phenomenological approach and basic theoretical concepts rather than rigorous mathematical detail. Short descriptions are given of some of the key experiments in the field, and how they have influenced our thinking. Although most of the material is presented in the context of the Standard Model of quarks and leptons, the shortcomings of this model and new physics beyond its compass (such as supersymmetry, neutrino mass and oscillations, GUTs and superstrings) are also discussed. The text includes many problems and a detailed and annotated further reading list.

Download or read book Introduction To High Energy Physics: Particle Physics For The Beginner written by Lee G Pondrom and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2022-04-08 with total page 551 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elementary particle physics is a mature subject, with a wide variety of topics. Size considerations require any text to make choices in the subject matter, and such choices are to a large extent a matter of taste. Each topic in this text has been selected for its accessibility to as wide an audience of interested readers as possible, without any compromise in mathematical sophistication. There are of necessity a lot of formulas, but every one is derived, and an effort has been made to explain the various steps and clever tricks, and how to avoid pitfalls. The text is supplemented by exercises at the end of each chapter. The reader is urged to do the exercises that are designed to increase one's skills in the material. The goal of the book is to bring to undergraduates an ability to enjoy this interesting subject.

This book was released on 2003-10-31 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twelfth Advanced Study Institute (ASI) on Techniques and Con cepts of High Energy Physics was held at the Hotel on the Cay in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands in June 2002. The Institute attracted 11 lecturers and 42 advanced PhD students and recent PhD recipients in experimental particle physics from 14 different countries. The scientific program covered a broad sweep of topics that are expected to remain of interest for many years to come. The topics in this volume complement those in earlier volumes (published by Kluwer) and should be of interest to many physicists. The main financial support for the Institute was provided by the Scientific Affairs Division of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The Institute was eo-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), the Florida State Univer sity (FSU) - Offices of the Provost and the Dean of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Physics and the FSU High Energy Physics Group - and the Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics (ITEP, Moscow).
Book Synopsis General Model Independent Searches for Physics Beyond the Standard Model by : Saranya Samik Ghosh
Download or read book General Model Independent Searches for Physics Beyond the Standard Model written by Saranya Samik Ghosh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-08-13 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This primer describes the general model independent searches for new physics phenomena beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. First, the motivation for performing general model independent experimental searches for new physics is presented by giving an overview of the current theoretical understanding of particle physics in terms of the Standard Model of particle physics and its shortcomings. Then, the concept and features of general model independent search for new physics at collider based experiments is explained. This is followed by an overview of such searches performed in past high energy physics experiments and the current status of such searches, particularly in the context of the experiments at the LHC. Finally, the future prospects of such general model independent searches, with possible improvements using new tools such as machine learning techniques, is discussed.

Book Synopsis Techniques and Concepts of High-Energy Physics IV by : Thomas Ferbel
Download or read book Techniques and Concepts of High-Energy Physics IV written by Thomas Ferbel and published by Springer. This book was released on 1987 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fourth Advanced Study Institute (ASI) on Techniques and Concepts of High Energy Physics was held once again at the Hotel on the Cay, in the scenic harbor of Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. The ASI brought together a total of 67 participants, from 17 different countries. It was a great success, due to the dedication of the inspiring lecturers, the exceptional student body, and, of course, the beautiful setting. The primary support for the meeting was again provided by the Scientific Affairs Division of NATO. The ASI was cosponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, by Fermilab, by the National Science Foundation, and by the University of Rochester. A special contri bution from the Oliver S. and Jennie R. Donaldson Charitable Trust provided an important degree of flexibility, as well as· support for worthy students from developing nations. As in the case of the previous ASI's, the'scientific program was designed for advanced graduate students and recent PhD recipients in experimental particle physics. The present volume of lectures should complement the material published in the first three ASI's, and prove to be of value to a wider audience of physicists. It is a pleasure to acknowledge the encouragement and support that I have continued to receive from colleagues and friends in organizing this meeting. I am indebted to the members of my Advisory Committee for their infinite patience and excellent advice. I am grateful to my distinguished lecturers for participating in the ASI.
