It took different people with different approaches to dismantle colonialism completely from Kenya. This is an important point that the book raises because many other books have been written pointing to only one movement called Mau-mau as being the only revolt that was used to oust colonialists. Kenya the Beloved says that that is not entirely true. The book also tells what was at stake and why the Africans of Kenya had to fight. In wildlife, the book tells that animals in Kenya were plenty and beautiful before and after the colonialists. He then tells how even these animals fought for freedom like every other Kenyan. The book illustrates how well and peaceful the country was before December 27, 2007 when it says ‘things fell apart’. Job does not leave you there stranded as to what to do next, he gives you hope. Job tells how things can be turned around for the better of all the people. He says that even though things have gone terribly wrong, people can still rise and mend fences for the future generation. Above all, this book is an historical account, of some events and freedom struggle for the people of Kenya. This is a book of hope. It is a book that tells vividly the way some people think and the practical way of solving our many problems in the world. Reading this book raises one’s hope and inspires action for the common good of all humanity. Job Ombati believes that if all men can think positive, if all men can start acting with love of one another, the world will be a better place for all to live in. It is with such kind of thinking that he wrote this small book, Kenya The Beloved. It will challenge and inspire you to the end.

Answer: The name "Mau Mau" was never used by the Kikuyu themselves, and did not exist in their language. In general, they called themselves the "Land Freedom Army," or the "Freedom Struggle Association." It was used as part of a psychological operations campaign by the British in an attempt to demonize the Kikuyu people, make them less than human, and easier to hate and kill. Some Kikuyu Elders say that the name "Mau Mau" was really "Uma Uma" ("out out - to get out"), a code word based on a secret-language game the Kikuyu boys played at the time of their circumcision. General China, a former Mau Mau leader explained that the native word for "Oath" is "Muma," but because of its pronunciation the Europeans wrote it as "Mau Mau." The leader of the movement, Dedan Kimathi, was opposed to the use of the term Mau Mau to describe the guerrillas. He called them The Kenya Land and Freedom Army (KLFA).

They were accused of belonging to a secret organization whose political aim was to drive the British occupiers out of Kenya by violent means. They were brutally tortured by the colonial police, but they stubbornly refused to reveal the aims and the name of the clandestine movement. Nineteen of them, 15 men and 4 women, were brought to court and charged with membership in an unlawful society. They were jailed for seven years each. It was a kangaroo trial trial. The judge and prosecutor were colonialists; the interpreter was an indigenous traitor.During the trial one of the accused, Magrougi ole Kodogoya, under cross-examinations on the dock, absolutely refused to to cooperate with the colonial prosecutor. repeatedly, he was asked by the prosecutor to explain to the judge how he was recruited into the underground movement, as well as the aims and the name of the secret movement and the methods used to make him a member, but he refused to answer the questions put to him directly. Instead, he told the kangaroo judge that because of his commitment and dedication to the movement and the love for his country he would never reveal "maundu mau mau" (those, those things) the leadership of the movement told him not to reveal to the government. He would die first before he betrayed the movement.The colonial press, confused by the statement, but seeking the way to characterize the clandestine movement, seized upon the words "mau Mau (those, those) as the name of the movement. Further, the press explained that the aim of the movement was to overthrow the British rule in the country by armed struggle and establish an African government. To be a member of the movement, the imperialist press added, one must take a Mau Mau oath.This is how the name "Mau Mau" entered the political dictionary of Kenya's anti-imperialist resistance.Significantly, the name "Mau Mau" has been immortalized by the Kenyan people because it symbolizes their collective heroism against foreign domination and their undying love for freedom, liberty and justice. In other words, it has become synonymous with Kenyan national patriotism, anti-imperialism, military acumen, and most importantly, popular democratic revolution.
