Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: …In this book, Keeping it Real in an Unreal World, Michael Jean Nystrom-Schut examines the reality of illusion (or the illusion of reality?). He talks about how we can come to pursue our best efforts at finding something that resembles a path through the foggy haze of an earth-dwellers life, and the fuzzy twists and turns and convolutions of existence. If our voyage is one of expectation, our reality will become just that. Its a perceptual thing; how we each perceive it is a highly individual matter. If you keep an open mind, Michael's promise is that rewards will come out of your enthusiastic reading participation. Dont assume you know anything whatsoever about real life; it goes better for us when we think of it like that. In reality, each day we start out new, and each new day presents itself with an entirely new set of illusions. In sorting out the illusions, we have the chance to make things happen in our lives. The book is presented in five sections. To begin with, in Section One the whole matter of reality and illusion is examined. The next section talks about the individual self, and what reality means to him. The third section explores reality close to home, in the lives of our mind, and with our friends and family. Section Four moves into the outer world, where a global view of reality is addressed. Finally, in the last section (Five), Michael takes on the great and perennial metaphysical questions, doing his best to apply the human notions of God and Universe to the world of the thinking self. Michael admits he is only sharing thoughts on how he narrowly see things. You will hopefully have your own spin on reality, different from everyone else in the world. Keeping it real comes in many shapes, sizes and colors. Each of us looks at it uniquely, and what you are about to experience in this book is merely one tiny sliver of reality perspective. When you are finished reading the book, it is Michael's hope that you will have given more consideration to the matter of whats real and not real for yourself. And that you will take valuable living information from it. Reality. Its a funny thing. How we negotiate our way through it goes a long ways towards whether we adapt or fail in our experiences and encounters with life. Enjoy your journey, both through the book, and through life!

Book excerpt: Explores Black representation in fantasy genres and comic books Characters like Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage, Miles Morales, and Black Lightning are part of a growing cohort of black superheroes on TV and in film. Though comic books are often derided as naïve and childish, these larger-than-life superheroes demonstrate how this genre can serve as the catalyst for engaging the Black radical imagination. Keeping It Unreal: Comics and Black Queer Fantasy is an exploration of how fantasies of Black power and triumph fashion theoretical, political, and aesthetic challenges to—and respite from—white supremacy and anti-Blackness. It examines representations of Blackness in fantasy-infused genres: superhero comic books, erotic comics, fantasy and science-fiction genre literature, as well as contemporary literary “realist” fiction centering fantastic conceits. Darieck Scott offers a rich meditation on the relationship between fantasy and reality, and between the imagination and being, as he weaves his personal recollections of his encounters with superhero comics with interpretive readings of figures like the Black Panther and Blade, as well as theorists such as Frantz Fanon, Eve Sedgwick, Leo Bersani, Saidiya Hartman, and Gore Vidal. Keeping It Unreal represents an in-depth theoretical consideration of the intersections of superhero comics, Blackness, and queerness, and draws on a variety of fields of inquiry. Reading new life into Afrofuturist traditions and fantasy genres, Darieck Scott seeks to rescue the role of fantasy and the fantastic to challenge, revoke, and expand our assumptions about what is normal, real, and markedly human.

It is also not the purpose of this book to reprint information that is otherwise available to the author, publisher, or reader. Rather, it seeks to complement, amplify, and/or supplement other texts available. The reader is urged to review all relevant material and learn as much as possible about life, tailoring that information to their individual situation. Further, efforts have been made to make this book as accurate as possible. However, there are undoubtedly editorial, typographical, and contextual errors contained herein. Therefore, the text should be viewed and utilized as a general guide, not as an ultimate source of information related to the various topics. This book also contains information that may no longer be relevant or accurate despite our desire to think our words and thoughts about life are timeless and perfect. Finally, the primary objective of this volume has something to do with the four Es—to enlighten, edify, educate, and entertain, perhaps even in that order. Personal philosophy and worldview are something we develop and maintain as individuals who evolve throughout life. It is the ambition of the writer to amplify these Es, hoping that in doing so, it will allow the reader to experience a more meaningful, balanced, complete, and productive encounter with life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not just anyone sits down to write their own personal Bible. The famous one, popular with millions of Christians, was penned by 35-40 different authors, over a span of some 1100 years. As of 1995, it was still considered (Guinness) the world’s #1 best seller of all-time. In stark contrast, Michael’s 2-volume Principles of Philosophy was meditated, contemplated, drafted, and written - in deep anonymity and solitude - over a daily and nightly 30-month span. His two books come in at over 800,000 words (the same as ten 80,000-word works). With the King James Old and New Testament totaling just over 783,000 words, it is easy to see why Michael views himself as both prolific (plentiful) and loquacious (talkative) when it pertains to laying down thought. As the Bible is for millions on the planet, Michael feels his principles are also a template - an owner’s manual - a guidebook - for (in particular) how to: (1) view life on earth; (2) work on the detail of one’s philosophy and worldview; and (3) examine and conduct a balanced, meaningful existence on this planet. The Holy Bible consists of 80 books (39 in the Old Hebrew part, 14 in the Apocrypha, and 27 in the New Christian part). Michael’s Principles (Volumes One and Two) each cover 84 chapters of the basic areas of life as he views them, with 21 chapters outlined each, for: (1) the mental; (3) the social; and (2) the material; (4) the spiritual areas of our lives. A detailed numbering system is in place for quick reference to topics. Each volume happens to come in at 613 entries, making a total of 1226 separate entries in the two books. By dictionary definition, a “principle” is defined as a “fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.” This is precisely why he chose “principles” in the title. His own personal philosophical principles are what he tries to practice daily. Michael even states they are likely the reason he is still with us in bodily form on the earth, and remains in (relative) possession of his right mind as well. Since leaving organized religion early on in life, these tenants, practiced in balance, have been what Michael has focused on for several decades. They work well for him. In the course of these pursuits, he says he has come to thousands of conclusions. And they all point to the balanced life. As he insists, for him, it is all about equivalent portions of mind (mental), body (material), relationships (social), and spirituality (God; the Universe). Basically, everything can be summed up within these four primary areas of life. Michael seems to never hesitate to conclude that he has found his own personal means of salvation in the midst of pursuing his balance of the Principles of Philosophy. - Tanya Walker (wife)

This book was released on 2008 with total page 496 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using recontructive ideas available in classical Indian original works, this book makes a departure in the style of modern writings on Indian moral philosophy. It presents Indian ethics, in an objective, secular, and wherever necessary, critical manner as a systematic, down-to-earth, philosophical account of moral values, virtues, rights and obligations. It thereby refutes the claim that Indian philosophy has no ethics as well as the counter-claim that it transcends ethics. It demonstrates that moral living proves that the individual, his society and the world are really real and not only taken to be real for behavioral purposes as the Advaitins hold, the self is amoral being a non-agent, moksa is not a moral value, and the Karmic theory, because of involving belief in rebirth, does not fuarantee that the doer of an action is also the experiencer of its results, contrary to what is commonly held, and Indian ethics can sustain itself even if such notions are dropped. Rajendra Prasad calls Indian ethics organismic because, along with ethical concerns, it also covers issues related to professions, politics, administration, sex, environment, etc. Therefore, in one format it is theoretical and applied, normative and metaethical, humanistic and non-humanistic, etc., of course, within the limits of the then cognitive enquiry.
