Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Third-grader Aven Green has been solving mysteries for a really long time—a whole month! She’s solved many important cases like The Mystery of the Cranky Mom, The Mystery of the Missing Ice Cream, and The Mystery of the Smelly Feet. Her record is nearly 100% (only The Mystery of the Cereal in My Underpants remains unsolved to this day). Aven asks all the right questions, wields her detective kit carefully, and follows up on every clue. Then her teacher’s lunch bag (with her lunch still in it) is taken and Aven’s great-grandma’s beloved dog goes missing! Can this perceptive detective crack two cases at the same time? Luckily, Aven has a super-powered brain full of lots of extra brain cells to take on both cases. See, she was born without arms, so all of the cells that were supposed to make her arms went into making her brain instead. At least that’s her working theory for The Mystery of Why I Have So Many Extra Brain Cells.
Book Synopsis No Greater Love by : John A. Siegfried
Download or read book No Greater Love written by John A. Siegfried and published by Casemate. This book was released on 2022-09-30 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of Philadelphia's only Medal of Honor recipient from the Vietnam War told here for the first time Michael Crescenz grew up in one of Philadelphia’s booming post-war Catholic neighborhoods, distinguishing himself early on as a leader, brother and friend who fearlessly rose to the defense of others in need. The second of six sons born to a World War II veteran, Michael was known for his big smile, athletic abilities, toughness and fierce competitive spirit. Growing up, Michael’s world revolved around his family, parish, local playgrounds, and the bustling Catholic schools he attended from first grade through high school graduation. All these influences shaped the man he would become – the one who felt a sense of duty to serve his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army to do his part during the Vietnam War. He was in Vietnam barely two months when his unit, the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry, was sent into battle against deeply entrenched enemy forces on Nui Chom Mountain, the fortress in the clouds tucked away in the far northwest corner of South Vietnam near the borders with North Vietnam and Laos. Commanders knew they were in for a fight, but didn’t know the enemy had more than 250 machine gun bunkers deployed along the mountain’s slopes. On November 20, 1968, Alpha Company was ambushed on the wet jungle mountainside, the NVA taking down the two men up front and pinning down the rest with relentless fire. Thinking first of the danger to those around him, Private First Class Michael J. Crescenz picked up an M60 machine gun and charged the enemy bunkers. He did not survive but his actions saved the lives of his fellow soldiers and allowed them to advance and ultimately prevail. For his valor and sacrifice, Michael was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. No Greater Love tells this story from the perspective of those who loved Michael Crescenz most, close friends, family, Michael’s commanding officer in Vietnam, retired Lieutenant General Sam Wetzel, and medic William “Doc” Stafford, the soldier closest to Michael when he was cut down by enemy fire and who believes to this day that he survived Nui Chom only because of the selfless actions of Private First Class Crescenz.

Book Synopsis His Love Endures Forever by : Melanie D.
Download or read book His Love Endures Forever written by Melanie D. and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2024-07-17 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: His Love Endures Forever is an easy-to-read autobiography. Starting at birth, it's a compelling (sometimes heart-wrenching) true story about a young girl's journey as she grows into her adolescent years and into womanhood. Because she came from a broken home, she was trying to find love and validation in all the wrong worldly places. Before becoming a Christian, she continually jumped into situations without thinking things through or taking into consideration the consequences of her actions. She repeatedly made the same mistakes while she was caught up in recurring vicious cycles. While becoming a Christian, she had so many overwhelming problems in her life that she called a prayer line one day. The prayer line partner suggested that she start reading Psalms 91 every day for protection. She recommended that Melanie write down a list of her problems and turn it all over to Jesus. Melanie took her advice and made the list. She surrendered all of her problems over to Jesus. She laid her list down at Jesus feet and turned everything over to him. The Lord heard her prayers and removed every problem off of the list one by one. His Love Endures Forever includes amazing victories, testimonies, quoted scriptures, authors thoughts and comments. His Love Endures Forever consists of real-life adventures, trials and errors, answered prayers, her spiritual experiences and visitations. The book also includes the challenges of her life's struggles. Her story reveals her weaknesses, hardships, soul ties, broken relationships, and failed marriages. It was a humbling learning process before she learned how to acquire patience and wisdom from the Lord. The book includes the process that it took before, during, and after becoming a born-again Christian. It covers the events and situations in her life that only the Lord could have removed and pulled her out of. God was on the move closing doors and opening new doors. As she turns her life over to the Lord, she realizes that He was with her throughout her entire journey of life. As she reflects back on her life, she discovers how many times there were proven signs, wonders, and even miracles along the way. If it wasn't for the grace of God, his protective covering, and his anointing upon her life, she's not sure that she could have survived. Jesus filled the void within her heart while becoming a born-again Christian and developing her relationship with Jesus Christ. It was because of her love, faith, and putting her trust in God, along the way, that she finally discovers who she truly is and whose she truly is in Christ Jesus.
Book Synopsis Dear Jane, Love, John by : John J. Minerva
Download or read book Dear Jane, Love, John written by John J. Minerva and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-01-03 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is intended primarily to be family history for the next several generations of Minervas. It also contributes to the canon of personal diaries of the Korean War. It presents an aspect of war and army life that families back home would not have considered. Being in the armed service for his country, a young man had to rearrange his daily life in the framework of the circumstances the US Army presented. He was living with other men like himself, in close quarters, moving frequently. There was also in this case a peta puppy dog for company. His room and meals, of various qualities, would be supplied, but he had to arrange for his laundry, housekeeping, and, mainly, recreational activities of some kind for those many hours when his services were not being required by the command that otherwise would be empty and subject to massive stretches of boredom.
