Book Synopsis Children and the Good Life by : Sabine Andresen
Download or read book Children and the Good Life written by Sabine Andresen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-21 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In April 2009, an inspiring international conference was held at Bielefeld on the topic "Children and the Good Life: New Challenges for Research on Children." The focus was on how we can define and measure a "good life" for children growing up in the modern world. This tied in with discussions on how convincing universalistic theories are, what research on children can contribute, and how children themselves can be integrated into the research process and debates on the "good life." Discourses and the production of knowledge on the "good life" or "well-being" require a guiding idea or a theoretical frame. This frame can come from the feminist ethic of care or from the Human and Children's Rights Convention, from the idea of welfare, or from the Capability Approach.
Download or read book The Black Art written by Lee Richards and published by www.psywar.org. This book was released on 2010 with total page 451 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As well as the open propaganda of the British Government produced during the Second World War, like the foreign language radio broadcasts of the BBC and the aerial propaganda leaflets dropped by the RAF over Occupied Europe, a secret underground propaganda battle was also fought. ‘The Black Art’ documents this history of Britain’s clandestine psychological warfare conducted against the Nazi’s Third Reich. This black propaganda was the work of several secret intelligence organisations including the Political Warfare Executive and Special Operations Executive. Using previously undiscovered primary source material ‘The Black Art’ charts the progress of and catalogues the range of propaganda leaflets covertly distributed across Occupied Europe and beyond to subvert the morale of German soldiers and civilians. The propaganda included such ruses as malingering instructions to fake the symptoms of illness, tips for desertion to neutral countries, parody postage stamps, advice on sabotaging a U-boat, counterfeit ration coupons, identity documents and newspapers plus numerous other falsely attributed leaflets and stickers. Over 350 illustrations are included.

Book Synopsis Germany’s future electors by : Nora E. Sánchez Gassen
Download or read book Germany’s future electors written by Nora E. Sánchez Gassen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-20 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nora E. Sánchez Gassen analyses how demographic trends and electoral law have influenced the German electorate in the past and projects their future impact. A set of population projections illustrates how the size and age structure of the electorate will change until 2030 due to ongoing demographic changes. Additional analyses reveal how reforms of electoral law and citizenship law could be used to influence these trends. Overall, the author combines demographic methods with democratic theory in order to investigate a topic that has so far received little attention in discussions on demographic change: the future of the democratic system.

Download or read book Facilitating Young People's Development written by Michael Behr and published by Pccs Books. This book was released on 2008 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facilitating children's and adolescents' growth has been a challenge and major concern for person-centred work since the beginning of the approach in the 1940's. During the past decade, a shift in this domain has generated numerous new concepts, research and practice, making a considerable impact on both the professional tasks and training of educators, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Fifteen original chapters and a foreword from Brian Thorne describe this development. The chapters began as presentations from a symposium at the Potsdam PCE 2006 World Association conference, thus reflecting international perspectives emerging around the world today. Framed by two chapters from the editors, the book provides a comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art person-centred work with children, adolescents and parents, and identifies emerging themes in the field.

Book Synopsis Religious Diversity at School by : Ednan Aslan
Download or read book Religious Diversity at School written by Ednan Aslan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-11 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume features chapters by international experts in education, sociology, and theology who consider a range of challenges faced by educators in primary and secondary schools that are becoming increasingly diverse in terms of the ethnic and religious backgrounds of pupils. From the non-religious, to the refugee, to student fundamentalism and even radicalization—these multiple, fresh approaches analyze the dynamics of the changing pedagogical landscape in an age of ever increasing globalization and cultural plurality. Today’s classrooms are often the most crucial spaces where children and adolescents encounter new cultural, religious, and other worldviews. Increasingly, teachers are called on to empower their pupils with the tools and competencies necessary to reflect on and process this plurality in ways that are productive for their intellectual growth and moral maturation. Regional case studies provide extensive data while offering insights into developments in school settings across Europe, in Turkey, and in the United States. In addition, a number of the contributions address the delivery, content, and policies of Islamic Religious Education in European contexts, the educational strategies employed in multi-religious societies, and interreligious dialogue in schools, whether intentional or spontaneous.
