Book excerpt: Journey To Your Calling chronicles the seven major progressions of spiritual growth and development that we all must go though with the Lord on our journey to identifying and walking in our calling. Each of us has a calling in life. There is something the Lord wants each of us to do. We discover our calling after being obedient and faithful in whatever tasks, steps and actions the Lord gives us over the years. What does the Lord want you to do while you are still on this earth? How is a Christian able to deal with the challenges of life any differently than someone who does not know the Lord? This book serves as a guide for any man or woman who truly wants to realize their calling. Regardless of age, race, ethnicity or culture you will find this book compelling as a road-map to discover the purpose you are to fulfill on this earth. Janice Hatcher Liggins is an author, civic leader, entrepreneur, founder of a nonprofit, TV show host, intercessor, mother, granny, and most importantly, a child of the Most High God.

Book excerpt: Ever wish you had a road map to follow to your God-given destiny? The Calling Journey is just such a map, revealing the common stages and transitions leaders go through on the pathway to their call. As you read what successful leaders from all walks of life experienced on the destiny road, you'll gain an amazing perspective on how God is leveraging everything in your own story to make his dream for you come true. Along the way, you'll learn how to identify key stages in your own journey and build a personal calling timeline. When you discover what God's agenda is for each stage, you can lean into what he is doing in you instead of fighting the process. Developed by a master leadership coach, the timeline model emerged from comparing the life stories of biblical characters to those of contemporary leaders. Through hundreds of coaching encounters, plus extensive interviews with Christian leaders in business, ministry, politics and other spheres, Tony discovered that God takes each of us through predictable stages of upward growth separated by "valleys" of adversity and inner formation. While we tend to view the difficult times in the valleys as failures or detours, Tony shows how they form a vital part of God's strategy for leadership development. Just as Joseph's repeated betrayal and elevation birthed the life message that is his greatest legacy ("You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good"), The Calling Journey shows how the Great Redeemer transforms times of heartache into the seedbed of a world-changing life. The Calling Journey depicts four stages and three valleys on an easy-to-understand graphical timeline. Dozens of personal stories (along with tales of historical and biblical travelers) bring the journey to life. Coupled with an innovative understanding of call as the unique way Jesus is incarnated in us by our story, this in-depth look at the purpose of life reveals how God truly is good all the time.

Book excerpt: An inspiring guide to finding your life’s purpose—what spiritual teachers call dharma—through mindfulness and self-exploration. Stephen Cope says that in order to have a fulfilling life you must discover the deep purpose hidden at the very core of your self. The secret to unlocking this mystery, he asserts, can be found in the pages of a two-thousand-year-old spiritual classic called the Bhagavad Gita—an ancient allegory about the path to dharma, told through a timeless dialogue between the fabled archer, Arjuna, and his divine mentor, Krishna. Cope takes readers on a step-by-step tour of this revered tale and highlights well-known Western lives that embody its central principles—including such luminaries as Jane Goodall, Walt Whitman, Susan B. Anthony, John Keats, and Harriet Tubman, along with stories of ordinary people as well. If you’re feeling lost in your own life’s journey, The Great Work of Your Life may help you to find and to embrace your true calling. Praise for The Great Work of Your Life “Keep a pen and paper handy as you read this remarkable book: It’s like an owner’s manual for the soul.”—Dani Shapiro, author of Devotion “A masterwork . . . Book excerpt: In The Anatomy of a Calling, Lissa Rankin, MD, makes a simple yet revolutionary claim: We are all, every single one of us, heroes. We are all on what Joseph Campbell calls "a hero's journey;" we are all on a mission to step into our true nature and fulfill the assignment our souls were sent to Earth to fulfill. Navigating the hero's journey, Dr. Rankin argues, is one of the cornerstones of living a meaningful, authentic, healthy life. In clear, engaging prose, Dr. Rankin describes her entire spiritual journey for the first time--beginning with what she calls her "perfect storm" of events--and recounts the many transformative experiences that led to a profound awakening of her soul. Through her father's death, her daughter's birth, career victories and failures, and an ongoing struggle to identify as both a doctor and a healer, Dr. Rankin discovers a powerful self-awareness. As she shares her story, she encourages you to find out where you are on your own journey and offers wisdom and inspiration in the form of "Hero's Guideposts" along the way. Dr. Rankin weaves in lessons on trusting intuition, surrendering to love, and learning to see adversity as an opportunity for soul growth. Much more than a memoir, The Anatomy of a Calling guides you to make a powerful shift in consciousness and reach your highest destiny.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book came about by having, what I consider a normal conversation with my present pastor and wife. From that conversation, it was confirmed that my calling is to pray (maybe the main part); at this point I turned and looked at my husband. After the above conversation I remember (at the time) feeling dissatisfied with not having what the world views as success and was talking to the Lord about it. Following from this there was an event called “the flowing oil”. At the end of the event the guest speaker had anointing oil with him and were anointing, just a hand full of people. On at least one of the times he kept looking at me (as if he was to) but did not. I got home and asked myself the question “I am prepared to see my Lord?” This got me into gear. There was another book that I had started to work on when this book was birthed in my heart. It is an inspirational book about coming to the realization of what part of my calling is; notice the word part of my calling! Well over a period of time, I embraced it and while embracing my call; I started to feel empowered. This book is not just about my calling but about yours’ too! The intent also is to stir up your calling. You may feel as if you do not fit in and the world may not seem to offer you anything but God surely can. In the book of Matthew Jesus quotes in my father’s house (mansion) there are many rooms. What I am saying is there are enough rooms for you and he can use you here on earth whether it is in a secular way or in the church. Throughout this book, there is encouragement for grown ups, whether they are Christian or not, young or old, married or unmarried, having children or not and finally having a career or not. My book starts to unfold at the book of Genesis, as you keep reading, it also talks on mercy and ends with God’s love. In addition I touched on varied other topics such as sharing testimonies as stories and tips that I had found useful having a family. My co-writer Melissa, is a professional and has shared her own faith from childhood to when her business started a few years ago now.
