He started seeing things that no one else could see. For some unknown reason, young Jordan started seeing the ghosts of recently departed gay men and boys. Some had died due to accidents, but a few had been murdered. He couldn't touch them without suffering painful injury, but he could talk with them, listen to their troubles and help make their death experience a little easier so they could move on. In some cases, he was able to help solve their murders. A he grew older, a few of the ghosts decided to stay and help him with his unique work.In the first book in this series, Jordan Dare and the Kidnapped Ghost, Jordan and several of his ghostly companions save a number of young children kidnapped by a ring of child traffickers, but the ringleader gets away. In this second entry in the Dare Trilogy, while following the leader's trail to the western mountains of Maryland, Jordan and his ghost posse bring the man to justice, but that is only a part of what they discover while there. A new mystery develops when they meet several ghosts from the seventeen hundreds who have been patiently waiting for someone like Jordan to come along, listen to their troubles and help solve a two-hundred, thirty-year-old-mystery. Two British/American soldiers were charged with sodomy and put to death in 1755 by a jealous British colonel at Fort Cumberland, in the English colony of Maryland. He also stole one man's family fortune. Colonel Tolchester also murdered a twelve-year-old drummer boy who failed in an attempt to free the two men before their hanging. He collected the fortune and buried it somewhere beneath a venerable old church in Cumberland after the fort later became a city. Now Jordan and his crew must help the three soldiers locate and recover the gold and set right the sins of the old colonel. Trouble is, his ghost has also remained and now he battles to thwart Jordan and his team of ghostly companions. Can Jordan use his unique abilities and that of his spiritual buddies to vanquish the mad ghost and locate the Tolchester treasure?

Book excerpt: Clay Parker: Growing Up Gay in 1953, is the story of a fourteen-year-old boy confused by his feelings, thoughts and dreams as he reaches adolescence and finds his sexual interests are in other teenaged boys. But it's 1953, a time of conservatism and rigid family and moral values. To top off Clay's problems, he's an orphan forced to live with an abusive aunt and uncle who openly show their distaste for the lad who was severely burned when a house fire killed his mother, father and younger brother. He realizes they would be the last persons he could turn to, to help him cope with his alien feelings. This is the story of Clay's troubles, trials and final triumph as he strives to find a family who will love him after he is forced to run away from home after a severe beating by his drunken uncle. The book contains some graphic sexual descriptions that may not be suitable for children under 12, although it would be highly recommended reading for gay teens to raise their awareness of the struggles of adolescent gay boys in earlier times.

Book excerpt: Two Souls Forever One is Cameron DeCessna's first romantic gay novel. The story is set in Jacksonville, Florida in the early 1980s when public perceptions of gay couples were still uncertain and controversial. It is the story of two men in their early twenties, Chris Walker, and Walt Bower who have been, shy, ashamed and secretive all their lives. Both have had a difficult time accepting their true nature and developing a meaningful relationship with other gay men. It's a happy and uplifting story of how two highly intelligent young men meet, fall in love, come out to their parents and form a family. As their loving relationship grows, they both serve as mentors to a gay teenager whose parents fully embrace their son's sexual identity. The boy, Sebastian, who longs to find a boyfriend of his own, meets Walt's fourteen-year-old cousin Arthur during a vacation trip to Kentucky and learns they were born on the same day. They soon discover they share much more for Arthur guards a secret about his own sexual orientation. The novel tells of Sebastian and Arthur's blossoming love as they discover together who they really are. The story's title serves to describe both the love shared by Walt and Chris as well as that shared by their two younger protégés, Arthur and Sebastian. This is a warm and tender look at young love both for the two twenty-something adults and their teenaged companions. The story is one of humor, heartache and all the common emotions of young love. As with all of Cameron DeCessna's books, you're guaranteed a happy ending at the close of this humorous, uplifting and warm story of two couples whose souls are entwined by the power of love. The book contains some sexually explicit content but is suitable for older teenagers, especially if they are gay.

But that was the easier of two conundrums. He also started seeing things that no one else could see. That sort of thing always causes complications. He started seeing the ghosts of recently departed gay men and boys. Some were the result of accidental deaths while some were the result of violence and murder. He couldn't touch them without suffering painful injury, but he could talk with them, listen to their troubles and make their death experience a little easier. He helped many to accept their demise and move on. In a few cases; he was able to help solve their murders. As he grew to manhood, Jordan earned a doctorate in science education and began work as a physics and chemistry teacher at a prestigious private school in Daytona Beach. In his mid-twenties, he met and fell in love with Andrew Lawson, a similar-aged Episcopal priest who gave every indication of being gay. Just as Jordan was about to reveal his true nature and feelings to Andrew, however, his friend disappeared without a trace. Several months later he appeared before Jordan as a ghost himself, breaking Jordan's heart.Jordan was able to be with Andrew's spirit, but he couldn't touch --- or be touched --- by the man he loved more than life itself. They shared love as best they could, knowing that someday Jordan's time would come and they could finally be together. But one day a fifteen-year-old, gay, street kid showed up in Jordan's classroom bearing ghastly wounds. He had just been murdered by a gang of child trafficking thugs when he resisted their advances. Someone from Somewhere had sent the distraught teenager, Freddie Kant, to Jordan. Freddie told Jordan there were six other young children held by his murderers and time was running out to save them from sexual slavery or something worse. Jordan now faced the greatest challenge of his life. He, Freddie, Andrew and Kim Nguyen, another ghost whose murder Jordan had once solved, began the search for the missing children hidden away somewhere in the vicinity of Daytona Beach, Florida. For a unique and thrilling tale, join Jordan and his ghostly associates as they try to accomplish the impossible before time runs out. This is the first of three novels featuring Jordan Dare and his complicated life.

Book excerpt: For seven years (1919-1926), Thomas Seltzer was one of New York City's most influential small publishers, a compact engine of the coming modern movement. Born in Russia in 1875, he was a proponent of progressive politics and experimental writing, a founding editor of The Masses, and the first editor in chief of the Modern Library. At Thomas Seltzer Inc. he translated Tolstoy and Gorky, edited Chekhov and Turgenev, and published Henry James and Stefan Zweig. Most important, he championed D. H. Lawrence at a crucial period in his literary development, publishing the first U.S. editions of The Rainbow, Women in Love, Sons and Lovers, Aaron's Rod - twenty titles in all. Lawrence trusted him, enjoyed his intelligence and can-do spirit, and became warm friends to both him and his wife, Adele, who was very much a partner in Seltzer's business.
