Book Synopsis Beyond Space and Time by : John L. Dobson
Download or read book Beyond Space and Time written by John L. Dobson and published by Temple Universal. This book was released on 2004 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: So far as we know this is the first book to present the rock bottom connection between science and religion. And the interesting thing about it is that it is done from the basis of Einstein's equations of physics and geometry. For thousands of years we have been faced with the problem of understanding the relation between our physics and what underlies it. So far as we know this is the first time the solution has been in print. And it is simple and readable. We don't have two worlds one for the scientists and one for the mystics. There's only one of it. And if the mystics are right in their descriptions, and if the scientists are right in theirs, we need only a translator and a dictionary of both languages. Fortunately for us, John Dobson has lived and worked in both camps, and knows both languages, so he undertook the task of translating. But to succeed in joining the descriptions by the physicists and the mystics he had to start far below the scientist's descriptions and he got there through Einstein's 1905 equations, his physics and his geometry.

Book Synopsis The Art of Management and the Aesthetic Manager by : John Dobson
Download or read book The Art of Management and the Aesthetic Manager written by John Dobson and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1999-03-30 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Businesses that tend to flourish during any given time period usually reflect the aspirations and attitudes of the prevailing culture. More specifically, the managers within these businesses reflect these characteristics. The challenge to management therefore is to read and interpret subtle cultural shifts and to understand how these shifts impact the role of business in society. These facts beg the questions What is the prevailing culture of the twenty-first century going to be? and How is this culture going to be reflected in the attitudes and aspirations of business management? The author of this remarkable book argues that the dominant culture will best be described as aesthetic in nature. The manager views his or her role as essentially artistic, seeking excellence in the craft rather than the pursuit of profit as the highest good. Parts one and two describe the existing models of management, the technical manager and the moral manager, and explain why they are no longer suitable. Then, incorporating business ethics, postmodern theory, virtue-ethics theory, and examples drawn from industry, Dobson convincingly argues the emergence of a new management paradigm. Part three describes the new model of management as artistic and aesthetic enterprise and the manager as artisan. Business scholars and theorists, practicing managers, and students will all find this book fascinating and useful in preparing for business in the coming century.

With hundreds of alphabetically organized entries and a rich collection of primary sources, it offers a unique way of understanding the centrality of diplomacy and the role of foreign relations throughout U.S. history. The encyclopedia is divided into five chronological sections, each containing a brief introduction, topical entries, biographical portraits, and representative documents. By examining seminal events, important ideas, and individual contributions in the context of U.S. history, the encyclopedia reveals the underlying traditions and motivations of American foreign policy as it has evolved over time.
Download or read book Finance Ethics written by John Dobson and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 1997 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book ever to integrate business ethics with financial economics, Finance Ethics shows how ethical behavior fits within the rational, profit-maximizing, finance paradigm. Dobson argues that even in economic terms the finance paradigm has a serious flaw: it views the firm and financial markets in general as contractual nexuses yet it fails to supply any adequate mechanisms for enforcing those contractual relations. Finance Ethics is therefore not just a moral critique of the finance paradigm, arguing that self-interested profit making must be constrained by ethics. Rather, it is a critique from within that paradigm, in which truth becomes a rational mechanism to enforce contracts, and virtuous behavior is shown to make the most business sense.
