They feel flawed, and blame themselves. Running on Empty will help them realize that they're suffering not because of something that happened to them in childhood, but because of something that didn't happen. It's the white space in their family picture, the background rather than the foreground. This will be the first self-help book to bring this invisible force to light, educate people about it, and teach them how to overcome it.

Book Synopsis How It All Began by : Miguel Cisneros
Download or read book How It All Began written by Miguel Cisneros and published by Page Publishing, Inc. This book was released on 2020-05-26 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How It All Began is based on Miguel "Mike" Cisneros Jr.'s life experiences growing up as a child dealing with family conflicts, domestic violence, bullying and child abuse, homelessness, and short periods of happiness. At times there were moments of hopelessness, despair, and desperation until he had to make a life-changing commitment to leave all that was negative and begin a new life, hoping something positive would come from it. That life-changing commitment was with the United States Navy. From the very beginning upon joining the Navy, many in leadership positions seemed to try blocking his desire to move forward, including people in leadership positions during a period when the Vietnam War was ending and the military was experiencing racial tension. Even though he didn't like it and knew it wasn't right, he kept going. There were also those in leadership positions that saw the potential in him and provided the mentoring and guidance for him to advance. After serving in the Navy for over thirty years, through many years of sea duty, deployments, family separations, adversity, and at times humiliations, he found ways to achieve his goals and succeed. At the same time, he provides insights of the chain of command and their leadership style. As with all organizations, there are good leaders and bad leaders; and from that, he learned and tried emulating the best from each. This personal story was written in the hopes that someone may learn from these experiences and perhaps inspire them to believe in themselves, to use their abilities, to have a positive attitude, and most importantly, to never give up.

Rachel can’t deny her nightly dreams about the wolf shifter she saved. Tucker can’t deny that Rachel makes his blood travel south. This shouldn’t happen. It shouldn’t. But God, it is. And oh man, is it ever. DEMON A wolf shifter. Damien’s always followed rules. He’s nothing like his twin, Tucker, the rule-breaker. Until he breaks one rule. And damned if it isn’t a big one. A rogue hottie. Fox shifter Sierra had this great social life—drinking, partying, shopping. Until she had a rude awakening, one that shoved her out the door and into the swamps. The Paris Hilton of shifters went from manis and pedis to scavenging and practically dumpster diving. An explosive unearthed secret forges an unlikely union. When Damien and Sierra learn of the secret which could bring the clans’ hierarchies to their knees, they find themselves in a unique position. Not to mention, the positions they find themselves in when they yield to their mutual desires. PATRIARCH A lion shifter. Vincent’s oldest enemy is his brother. And now he’s brought before the Council of Elders to determine his fate and Vincent is called as the solitary witness. A lioness shifter. Veronica’s first love is back. That was a lifetime ago, before he left his clan and her behind. She’s built a new life, and clearly so has he. Why can’t she convince herself of that? Sometimes the past refuses to stay in the past. Once upon a time, these two shifters were fated mates. Then circumstances parted them. Has it brought them back together just to keep them apart again?

Download or read book Blind Ambition written by John W. Dean and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2016-12-20 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A six-month New York Times bestseller: “Not only the best Watergate book, but a very good book indeed” (The Sunday Times). As White House counsel to Richard Nixon, a young John W. Dean was one of the primary players in the Watergate scandal—and ultimately became the government’s key witness in the investigations that ended the Nixon presidency. After the scandal subsided, Dean rebuilt his career, first in business and then as a bestselling author and lecturer. But while the events were still fresh in his mind, he wrote this remarkable memoir about the operations of the Nixon White House and the crisis that led to the president’s resignation. Called “fascinating” by Commentary, which noted that “there can be little doubt of [Dean's] memory or his candor,” Blind Ambition offers an insider’s view of the deceptions and machinations that brought down an administration and changed the American people’s view of politics and power. It also contains Dean’s own unsparing reflections on the personal demons that drove him to participate in the sordid affair. Upon its original publication, Kirkus Reviews hailed it “the flip side of All the President’s Men—a document, a minefield, and prime entertainment.” Today, Dean is a respected and outspoken advocate for transparency and ethics in government, and the bestselling author of such books as The Nixon Defense, Worse Than Watergate, and Conservatives Without Conscience. Here, in Blind Ambition, he “paints a candid picture of the sickening moral bankruptcy which permeated the White House and to which he contributed. His memory of who said what and to whom is astounding” (Foreign Affairs).

New Thought was seen by its adherents as succeeding "ancient thought", accumulated wisdom and philosophy from a variety of origins, such as Ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Chinese, Taoist, Vedic, Hindu, and Buddhist cultures and their related belief systems, primarily regarding the interaction between thought, belief, consciousness in the human mind, and the effects of these within and beyond the human mind. Though no direct line of transmission is traceable, many adherents to New Thought in the 19th and 20th centuries claimed to be direct descendants from those systems. Contents: Napoleon Hill. Book Synopsis Living Inside Prison Walls by : Victoria R. DeRosia
Download or read book Living Inside Prison Walls written by Victoria R. DeRosia and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 1998-12-09 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are advantaged offenders defenseless against the harshness of prison life? Based upon a qualitative study of the prison adjustment of advantaged offenders—those who, prior to prison, possessed college degrees and held high status occupations with commensurately high incomes—this book challenges the special sensitivity hypothesis and concludes that these offenders adjust well to incarceration. The author compared a group of advantaged offenders to a similar group of nonadvantaged offenders, both drawn from New York State prisons, and discovered that the advantaged offenders exhibited little (if any) engagement in institutional misconduct. They also adopted effective coping strategies. DeRosia presents a thematic analysis of in-depth, focused interviews with both subsamples, as well as vignettes based upon those interviews. Her findings reveal that advantaged offenders hold a perspective on doing time, including prescriptions for avoiding trouble, and make conscious efforts to avoid trouble by using time beneficially. This study contains the most current statistics available on corrections in the U.S., including its organization, the overcrowding crisis, and prisoner profiles. The nature of life in prison and prior research on adjustment are also examined.
