Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE STORY: Talented and precocious, Irving Yanover, at the tender age of 10, is both a piano prodigy and, at times, a thorn in the side of his orthodox parents, who lament his unaccountable predilection for bacon. But knowing that his mother and father indulge a similar passion (while dining out at a Chinese restaurant), Irving can only question their double standard. But even more upsetting is the unhappy fate of Annie, the Yanovers' young Ukrainian housekeeper, whose romance with a young Italian immigrant is bitterly opposed by her staunchly old-world parents—even though everyone knows that Annie's father is an enthusiastic devotee of Italian opera. Happily, however, these and other problems are delightfully resolved, with wit, gentle humor and a warm sense of humanity which will endear the play to audiences of all faiths and backgrounds.

Book Synopsis Israel Strikes-Out! by : Robert C. Lundberg
Download or read book Israel Strikes-Out! written by Robert C. Lundberg and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2003 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Israel Strikes-Out! is inspired by the many conflicts occurring in the Middle East over the last ten years. The book deals specifically with problems that have been brewing between Israel and Iraq, especially after the Scud Missile attacks launched by Saddam Hussein against Israel during the Gulf War in 1991. The book explores concerns raised by high-level officials in the Israeli intelligence organization, the Mossad, regarding the threat presented by Saddam Hussein. A Mossad operative, Menachem Yariv, suggests a strategy to insert an operative into the Iraqi military who can get as close as possible to the Iraqi leader so that Israel can make an assassination attempt against him. After a few set backs, the Mossad stumbles on to an Iraqi defector in Amman, Jordan who gets into position in the Iraqi Special Republican Guard to at least make an attempt on Saddam Hussein's life. The effort is not simple and takes a few twists and turns before an attempt is made. The C.I.A. even gets involved when it gets wind of the operation. After entering into a joint operation to strike Iraq, the U.S. and Israel experience several unexpected consequences of the effort that include some disappointments and some successes for both, as well as for the individuals directly involved in the operation.

His refutation of Replacement Theology is profound and yet easy to understand. This book answers a lot of questions many prophetic writers are afraid to ask.” —Dr. David Jeremiah As the day of the Lord rapidly draws near, we must appreciate God’s plans for all His people To truly grasp Bible prophecy, we must first understand how God’s promises to Israel complement His vision for the church. While some believe God has forsaken Israel for the church, this goes against the nature of the faithful Lord we find in Scripture. In his latest book, native Israeli and bestselling author Amir Tsarfati makes clear what the Bible says about God’s unique master plans for His two chosen groups, Israel and the church. Amir gets to the heart of key questions, such as… Do the promises God made to the Old Testament nation of Israel still apply to the Jewish people today? Has God replaced rebellious Israel with the church? Now that the church exists, does Israel possess a distinct role in the present age? How are current events in Israel relevant to the church? What should the church’s attitude be toward Israel? Israel and the Church provides a fascinating look at all that God has prepared for His two peoples—and why it’s so relevant to us today!

Book excerpt: A profoundly unsettling collection of tales of Americans caught up in the ethnic, religious, social, economic, and political conflicts of modern day Israel, by an astonishing new voice. In a land where sudden death is an everyday fact of life, a boy dodges bullets and searches through rubble for news of his soldier father. An aging rabbi?s faith is tested by a crippling, seemingly supernatural affliction. A middle-aged man comforts his Holocaust-survivor mother as she faces senility, convinced that Nazis are conspiring against her. And the mysterious biblical red heifer makes a startling appearance in the midst of a decidedly contemporary struggle. In these unsettling tales, the remarkable Jon Papernick transports us to modern-day Israel, a country torn by war, strife, and controversy throughout the history of its statehood. Giving voice to striking characters--Israelis, Palestinians, and Americans; Arabs, Christians, and Jews--caught in the ethnic, religious, social, and political conflicts of a dangerous region, Papernick brings the images we glimpse from afar, in newspapers and on television, chillingly to life. By turns starkly realistic and allegorically fantastic, these tales chronicle the conflict from the inside and illuminate the suffering and anger experienced by those on all sides. In?An Unwelcome Guest,? a young Jewish settler from New York plays a deadly game of backgammon with a ghostly old Arab while his pregnant wife sleeps unaware. In?The King of the King of Falafel,? a restaurant rivalry ends in apocalyptic violence. In "Lucky Eighteen," two young Americans living in Jerusalem as the Oslo accords collapse juggle political activism and a devastating love triangle--under the dark specter of suicide bombings. And in the brilliant, horrifying title story, a lonely shepherd wanders a broken no-man's-land, carrying with him the burden of an unspeakable act. In these haunting and strangely beautiful stories, the tragic carnage of the Middle East is rendered in unforgettable form. Suffused with rage, violence, humor, magic, and religion, this gripping collection leaves a profound impact. Evenhanded yet passionate, shocking yet hopeful, The Ascent of Eli Israelheralds the arrival of a masterful storyteller. Please visit.
