Book excerpt: This book clearly displays how Islam is the most natural response to the human condition, and providing spiritual insight into the universe. The Prophet Muhammad, blessing and peace be upon him, like all prophets before him, renewed the teachings of pure monotheism and once again conveyed to mankind the Divine Guidance from which they had turned away. This book explains the basic concept of life in Islam as well as its moral, political, social, economic and spiritual systems.

Book excerpt: One of the largest and fastest-growing religions, Islam is currently practiced by approximately one-fifth of the world's population. Unlike most religions that only consist of acts of worship, rituals, and a set of beliefs, it also offers a just socio-politico-economic system, which is especially important today as we continue to make significant material and scientific progress. However, although it presents real solutions to problems faced by the whole of mankind, factors such as worldwide media propaganda and the current condition of the Muslim community have seriously distorted the public image of Islam. Adeel Zeerak hopes that his book Islam: A Superior System of Life will help change all that.He says that after careful study, even those with non-Muslim unprejudiced minds will appreciate the beauty of his religion's teachings. To prove the superiority of Islamic system over other systems, he provides concrete data obtained from authentic sources and refrains from using boastful or exaggerative language. Chapters in Islam: A Superior System of Life include:• This is Islam• Characteristics of the Islamic System • Spiritual System• Social System• Economic System• Political System• The Prophet, peace be upon him, the Message, and the Ummah “Despite commendable progress in the field of science and technology, this world is full of evil, exploitation, and injustice,” says Zeerak, who believes any effort to find a solution to our problems continually fails because we choose to ignore the light of Divine Guidance. We all know what happened to prophet Noah's people when they rejected this guidance, but we, thankfully, still exist in this world to follow our Lord and accept Islam. Written for the Muslim and non-Muslim, Islam: A Superior System of Life is for readers interested in Islam, the prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Islamic view of women, the concept of Khilafat, Islamic finance, Islamic spirituality, and Islamic history. The author promises that our obedience to Allah, subhanahu wa-ta'ala, will result in endless favors and blessings both in this world and the hereafter.

Book excerpt: Crime, Poverty, Social deterioration, Political corruption, Racism and Apathy; These words evoke an all too familiar vision that characterizes our homes, our communities, our countries, and the world at large. Philosophers, Sociologists, Politicians, and ordinary citizens have aspired to devise viable solutions to these modern ailments; however, contradictory to the desired outcome of these efforts, the magnitude of the problems is rapidly increasing. As testimony to this fact stand the volumes of statistics generated weekly by the agencies monitoring the world situation. Every solution implemented by the current world order only breeds more problems, and the existing problems continue to grow with each passing year. The persistent inadequacy of the West in dealing with these issues raises questions as to the source of its failure. Any viable solution to these problems must consist of both, the correct idea, as well as the mechanism and the resources to implement that idea. Therefore, the failure of the West could either stem from a lack of resources, or be deeply rooted in the ideas upon which Western Civilization is built, Capitalism and Secularism. As demonstrated by the numerous social and economic programs already implemented, which have mobilized an enormous amount of manpower and wealth, one can clearly see that the resources are not in scarcity. Consequently, the problems in the Western societies must emanate from the secular, capitalist mentality upon which the deployment of the resources is based. This failure of Capitalism is well recognized; however, the paradigm of the Capitalist ideology is deeply rooted in the society and has yet to be broken. Thus, today, the societies of the world find themselves at a crossroads. Humanity can either continue to tread down the road of failure, marching to the tune of Capitalism and Secularism, or it can search for a new path, a new ideology to direct its thinking and its efforts. Surely, the World is in need of a new and correct ideology, and it is with this vision that it must evaluate Islam.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: `` Behold all that is around you on earth: things, plants, insects, animals, birds and fishes…. Don't you see that they have accurate systems governing and guiding their life? Behold all that is above you in space: sun, moon, planets, stars, clouds, wind…etc., are not they all functioning properly and accurately and rendering valuable services to our life on earth? Think of yourself, of your organs, of your numerous and efficient body systems, how they are cooperatively functioning to secure healthful life for you! 5. Who created all these fantastic things? Who established their accurate systems? Who is controlling this huge and complicated universe? 6. No one dared so far to claim creating, or being able to create, any single thing, even a hair!! The Creator and The Sustainer of all these creatures is One only; if there were more than one there would have been confusion in the heavens and the earth! That One is Allah (the Only true God). It is very logical, then, to acknowledge this fact, to know our Creator and Provider, to be grateful to Him and to submit ourselves and our life to His Wise and Merciful Guidance. Our Creator has endowed us with intellect to understand, and with freedom to choose the right path. Allah has showed us the right path through His Messengers sealed by Muhammad, and His Books completed by Al-Qur’an. In front of us there are two ways: One is leading to bliss in this life and in the Hereafter, that is Islam. The other is leading to misery and loss in this world, and to eternal punishment in the Hereafter. Choice is in our hands, what are we going to choose? May Allah guide us into the Right Path! Amen! ``

Book excerpt: In recent months, much attention has been paid to Islam and the greater Muslim world. Some analysis has been openly hostile, while even more has been overly simplistic. Islam in Context goes behind the recent crisis to discuss the history of Islam, describe its basic structure and beliefs, explore the current division between Muslim moderates and extremists, and suggest a way forward. Authors Peter G. Riddell and Peter Cotterell draw from sources such as the Qur'an, early Christian chronicles of the Crusades, and contemporary Muslim and non-Muslim writings. They move beyond the stereotypes of Muhammad-both idealized and negative-and argue against the myth that relatively recent events in the Middle East are the only cause for the clash between Islam and the West. Riddell and Cotterell ask the non-Muslim world to attempt to understand Islam from the perspective of Muslims and to acknowledge past mistakes. At the same time, they challenge the Muslim world by suggesting that Islam stands today at a vital crossroads and only Muslims can forge the way forward. Islam in Context will appeal to all those who are interested in an alternative to the easily packaged descriptions of the relationship between Islam and the West.
