Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roakan rose from his concealed cover, raised his sword above his head as more human warriors ran down the ramp of the warship to refortify their depleting forces. Roakan let out a mighty blood curdling battle cry and lowered his sword toward the human formation and as he did so he began jumping over the rubble that concealed him and led his warriors on a foot charge into the ranks of the human contingent. As he reached the first line of the human enemies Obaizen and his warriors were on their enemies rear flank as both collided with the wall of the human warriors at the front and rear flanks at almost the same instant. The humans by this time had drawn hand weapons and met the onslaught with as much fearlessness as the attacking Goathrunouk warriors. The two lines of warriors entangled in a clash of bodies, metal, and bone. In the morning sunrise there was the glitter of flashing swords, shredded metal, and the spray of blood as warriors screamed their last lifes song. Soon, all that would be left would be the silent victors and the dying as the sun continued to rise as it had done so for millions of years before, unaffected in its designed purpose by the happenings of mere mortals.

Book Synopsis Population Aging, Intergenerational Transfers and the Macroeconomy by : Robert L. Clark
Download or read book Population Aging, Intergenerational Transfers and the Macroeconomy written by Robert L. Clark and published by Edward Elgar Publishing. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Population aging is a global phenomenon that influences not only the industrialized countries of Asia and the West, but also many middle- and low- income countries that have experienced rapid fertility decline and achieved long life expectancies. This book explores how workers and consumers are responding to population aging and examines how economic growth, generational equity, trade and international capital flows are influenced by population aging. The contributors draw on the experience of the developing and industrialized worlds and on countries in Asia, North America, and Europe. They offer new evidence about micro-level responses of labor force participation, earnings, and savings to actual and/or perceived demographic change. Their broad perspective on population aging spans the entire demographic transition and demonstrates the importance of effective policy response in the early stages of population aging. Also included are policy analyses that explore the use of tax policy, financial reform, and policies targeting immigration and procreation. This insightful study will prove invaluable to students and scholars of population economics, public sector economics, welfare economics, social economics, and public finance. Pension analysts and government policymakers will find the material of great practical use.

Book Synopsis Expanding the Options in Child Placement by : Anita Weiner
Download or read book Expanding the Options in Child Placement written by Anita Weiner and published by University Press of America. This book was released on 1990 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the basis of a 14-year follow-up study of 268 infants in residential care, the authors evaluate the relative merits of adoption, foster care, return to parents or extended family. They stress the significance of the absentee parent, of social work intervention, the advantages of late adoption and make a case for a new look at residential group care as a viable alternative for dependent children in placement. This is the only study to follow up over 14 years an entire population of infants in residential care. It contains comprehensive data on all placement alternatives to which these children were exposed including adoption. It evaluates the comparative impact of each of these placement paths on the subsequent life of the children and their families.
