Book Synopsis Low Energy Ion Assisted Film Growth by : Agustin Gonzalez-elipe
Download or read book Low Energy Ion Assisted Film Growth written by Agustin Gonzalez-elipe and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2003-03-21 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introductory manual for Ion Assisted Deposition (IAD) procedures of thin films. It is addressed to researchers, post-graduates and even engineers with little or no experience in the techniques of thin film deposition. It reviews the basic concepts related to the interaction of low energy ion beams with materials. The main procedures used for IAD synthesis of thin films and the main effects of ion beam bombardment on growing films, such as densification, stress, mixing, surface flattening and changes in texture are critically discussed. A description of some of the applications of IAD methods and a review of the synthesis by IAD of diamond-like carbon and cubic-boron nitride complete the book.
Book Synopsis Film Synthesis and Growth Using Energetic Beams: Volume 388 by : H. A. Atwater
Download or read book Film Synthesis and Growth Using Energetic Beams: Volume 388 written by H. A. Atwater and published by . This book was released on 1995-10-10 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With over 16 countries represented, this book represents international developments in the field of film synthesis and growth using energetic beams. It focuses on pulsed-laser deposition. Fundamental issues pertaining to the generation of laser ablation plumes, temperature distributions and collisional effects are described. Ion-assisted pulsed-laser deposition, pulsed-ion deposition, applications of hyperthermal beams and aspects of surface dynamics are discussed. The inclusion of an ion beam with the ablation process leads to some unique modifications in the thin-film growth mechanisms, and hence, film properties. Likewise, the collision of high-mass metal cluster ions with substrates shows promise for growth of novel structures. Also featured are new developments of optoelectronic materials, nitrides and carbon films using a variety of techniques. The effects of beam-induced defects on growth and surface morphology, chemical effects during growth, and characterization of film growth and film properties are addressed.

Book Synopsis Deposition of Polypyrrole Thin Films by Advanced Method by : Dušan Kopecký
Download or read book Deposition of Polypyrrole Thin Films by Advanced Method written by Dušan Kopecký and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of new types of electronic devices based on conductive polymers requires precise and controlled deposition of these materials in thin layers. This book examines the latest results in research of deposition of polypyrrole (PPY) thin films by advanced method - Matrix Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation (MAPLE). It also provides a brief survey of the laser deposition of conductive polymers, theoretical analysis of the mechanisms of deposition by MAPLE method, definition of both source-PPY properties and deposition conditions necessary for successful thin layer fabrication.
Book Synopsis Diamond and Diamond-like Films and Coatings by : Robert E. Clausing
Download or read book Diamond and Diamond-like Films and Coatings written by Robert E. Clausing and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 894 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diamond films grown by activated chemical vapor deposition have superlative thermal, mechanical, optical, and electronic properties combined with a very high degree of chemical inertness to most environments. These properties, together with the ability to fabricate films and shapes of considerable size, promise an exciting new material with many applications. Some applications are on the verge of commercialization but many await a few more technological developments. Diamond-like films are already employed in both commercial and military applications. The popular press, as well as the scientific and technological and industrial communities, are increasingly interested in the potential for future development of these materials. Although there are many technical papers and review articles published, there is no Single comprehensive introduction to these technologies. The Scientific Affairs Division of NATO recognized the need and the future importance of these technologies and authorized an Advanced Study Institute on diamond and diamond-like films. NATO Advanced Study Institutes are high level teaching activities at which a carefully defined subject is presented in a systematic and coherently structured program. The subject is treated in considerable depth by lecturers eminent in their fields and of international standing. The presentations are made to students who are scientists in the field or who possess an advanced general scientific background.

Book Synopsis Handbook of Thin Film Deposition Techniques Principles, Methods, Equipment and Applications, Second Editon by : Krishna Seshan
Download or read book Handbook of Thin Film Deposition Techniques Principles, Methods, Equipment and Applications, Second Editon written by Krishna Seshan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-02-01 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Thin Film Deposition Techniques: Principles, Methods, Equipment and Applications, Second Edition explores the technology behind the spectacular growth in the silicon semiconductor industry and the continued trend in miniaturization over the last 20 years. This growth has been fueled in large part by improved thin film deposition techniques and the development of highly specialized equipment to enable this deposition. This second edition explains the growth of sophisticated, automatic tools capable of measuring thickness and spacing of submicron dimensions. The book covers PVD, laser and E-beam assisted deposition, MBE, and ion beam methods to bring together all of the physical vapor deposition techniques. The book also includes coverage of chemical mechanical polishing that helps attain the flatness that is required by modern lithography methods and new materials used for interconnect dielectric materials, specifically organic polyimide materials.
Book Synopsis Ion Beam Deposition of Multilayer Metallic Thin Films by : Jaeshin Ahn
Download or read book Ion Beam Deposition of Multilayer Metallic Thin Films written by Jaeshin Ahn and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An innovative thin film deposition technique : low energy ion beam deposition, is further studied. The theoretical deposition processes of this method are discussed. Double layer thin films of Mg and Pb on carbon substrates are produced by this method and compared with similar films grown by thermal evaporation. Their characteristics are investigated by Rutherford backscattering analysis and Scanning Electron Microscopy, The RBS technique is expanded to derive a profile of composition ratio versus depth within the deposits and applied to a depth analysis of the double layer films. The present study of film characteristics shows that a high level of mass selectivity is observed from the low energy ion beam deposited Mg films. The oxidation of Mg films is not limited to the film surface : oxygen is seen to be distributed into the Mg region rather than staying on the surface. The preferential migration of Pb into Mg is observed and the diffusion coefficient of Pb into Mg at 300° C is calculated as 1.236 x 10[superscript -14] cm[superscript 2]/sec. The interdiffusion region between the Mg and Pb film layer ranges from 1000 to 3000 Å at room temperature.
