Book Synopsis Basic Stress Analysis by : M J Iremonger
Download or read book Basic Stress Analysis written by M J Iremonger and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BASIC Stress Analysis aims to help students to become proficient at BASIC programming by actually using it in an important engineering subject. It also enables the student to use computing as a means of learning stress analysis because writing a program is analogous to teaching—it is necessary to understand the subject matter. The book begins by introducing the BASIC approach and the concept of stress analysis at first- and second-year undergraduate level. Subsequent chapters contain a summary of relevant theory, worked examples containing computer programs, and a set of problems. Topics covered include direct stress and strain; shear and torsion; bending; complex stress and strain; failure; and axisymmetric systems. Each chapter includes worked examples that are posed as questions. A listing of a possible program is given followed by an example of its output and some ""Program Notes."" These notes explain the structure of the program and how it utilizes the stress analysis theory.

Book Synopsis Hybrid Finite Element Method for Stress Analysis of Laminated Composites by : Suong Van Hoa
Download or read book Hybrid Finite Element Method for Stress Analysis of Laminated Composites written by Suong Van Hoa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has one single purpose: to present the development of the partial hybrid finite element method for the stress analysis of laminated composite structures. The reason for this presentation is because the authors believe that partial hybrid finite element method is more efficient that the displacement based finite element method for the stress analysis oflaminated composites. In fact, the examples in chapter 5 of this book show that the partial hybrid finite element method is about 5 times more efficient than the displacement based finite element method. Since there is a great need for accurate and efficient calculation of interlaminar stresses for the design using composites, the partial hybrid finite method does provide one possible solution. Hybrid finite method has been in existence since 1964 and a significant amount of work has been done on the topic. However, the authors are not aware of any systematic piece of literature that gives a detailed presentation of the method. Chapters of the displacement finite element method and the evolution 1 and 2 present a sununary of the hybrid finite element method. Hopefully, these two chapters can provide the readers with an appreciation for the difference between the displacement finite element method and the hybrid finite element. It also should prepare the readers for the introduction of partial hybrid finite element method presented in chapter 3.
Book Synopsis TEXTBOOK OF FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS by : P. SESHU
Download or read book TEXTBOOK OF FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS written by P. SESHU and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed for a one-semester course in Finite Element Method, this compact and well-organized text presents FEM as a tool to find approximate solutions to differential equations. This provides the student a better perspective on the technique and its wide range of applications. This approach reflects the current trend as the present-day applications range from structures to biomechanics to electromagnetics, unlike in conventional texts that view FEM primarily as an extension of matrix methods of structural analysis. After an introduction and a review of mathematical preliminaries, the book gives a detailed discussion on FEM as a technique for solving differential equations and variational formulation of FEM. This is followed by a lucid presentation of one-dimensional and two-dimensional finite elements and finite element formulation for dynamics. The book concludes with some case studies that focus on industrial problems and Appendices that include mini-project topics based on near-real-life problems. Postgraduate/Senior undergraduate students of civil, mechanical and aeronautical engineering will find this text extremely useful; it will also appeal to the practising engineers and the teaching community.

Download or read book Stress Analysis for Creep written by J.T. Boyle and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stress Analysis for Creep focuses on methods on creep analysis. The book first ponders on the occurrence of creep in mechanical engineering components, including background to stress analysis for creep and general-purpose computer programs for creep analysis. The book also explains simple component behavior, creep under multiaxial states of stress, and stress analysis for steady creep. The text focuses on reference stress methods in steady creep. Reference stresses for combined loading with a power law; non-isothermal power-law creep; reference temperatures; and approximate reference stress methods are elaborated. The text also focuses on stress analysis for transient creep; approximate solution of transient creep problems; and creep buckling and rupture. The text highlights the design for creep, including material data requirements and constitutive modeling for design; verification and qualification of stress analysis; and design methodology. The book is a good source of data for readers wanting to study creep analysis.
