This book was released on 2006 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is an introduction to Simulink, a companion application to MATLAB. It is written for students at the undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as for the working professional. Although some previous knowledge of MATLAB would be helpful, it is not absolutely necessary; Appendix A of this text is an Introduction to MATLAB to enable the reader to begin learning both MATLAB and Simulink to perform graphical computations and programming.Chapters 2 through 18 describe the blocks of all Simulink libraries. Their application is illustrated with practical examples through Simulink models, some of which are supplemented with MATLAB functions, commands, and statements. Chapters 1 and 19 contain several Simulink models to illustrate various applied math and engineering applications. Appendix B is an introduction to difference equations as they apply to discrete?{time systems, and Appendix C introduces the reader to random generation procedures. This text supplements our Numerical Analysis with MATLAB and Spreadsheet Applications, ISBN 0-9709511-1-6. It is self-contained; the blocks of each library are described in an orderly fashion that is consistent with Simulink!|s documentation. This arrangement provides insight into how a model is used and how its parts interact with each another.Like MATLAB, Simulink can be used with both linear and nonlinear systems, which can be modeled in continuous time, sample time, or a hybrid of these. Examples are provided in this text. Most of the examples presented in this book can be implemented with the Student Versions of MATLAB and Simulink. A few may require the full versions of these outstanding packages, and can be skipped. Some add?{ons, known as Toolboxes and Blocksets can be obtained from The MathWorks, Inc., 3 Apple Hill Drive, Natick, MA 01760?{2098, USA, www.mathworks.com.

This book was released on 2018-03-12 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stateflow(R) is an environment for modeling and simulating combinatorial and sequential decision logic based on state machines and flow charts. Stateflow lets you combine graphical and tabular representations, including state transition diagrams, flow charts, state transition tables, and truth tables, to model how your system reacts to events, time-based conditions, and external input signals. With Stateflow you can design logic for supervisory control, task scheduling, and fault management applications. Stateflow includes state machines animation and static and run-time checks for testing design consistency and completeness before implementation. A MATLAB function in a Stateflow chart is a graphical element you use to writealgorithms that are easier to perform by calling built-in MATLAB functions. Typical applications include: Matrix-oriented calculations, Data analysis and visualization. This type of function is useful for coding algorithms that are more easily expressed using MATLAB instead of the graphical Stateflow constructs. This function also provides optimizations for generating efficient, production-quality C code for embedded applications. In a Stateflow chart, a Simulink function is a graphical object that you fill with Simulink blocks and call in the actions of states and transitions. This function provides an efficient model design and improves readability by minimizing graphical and nongraphical objects. In Stateflow charts you can perform most debugging tasks directly from the chart in the Stateflow Editor.. In the Symbols window, you can view and manage data, events, and messages while working in the Stateflow editor.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A current trend in digital design-the integration of the MATLAB® components Simulink® and Stateflow® for model building, simulations, system testing, and fault detection-allows for better control over the design flow process and, ultimately, for better system results. Digital Integrated Circuits: Design-for-Test Using Simulink® and Stateflow® illustrates the construction of Simulink models for digital project test benches in certain design-for-test fields. The first two chapters of the book describe the major tools used for design-for-test. The author explains the process of Simulink model building, presents the main library blocks of Simulink, and examines the development of finite-state machine modeling using Stateflow diagrams. Subsequent chapters provide examples of Simulink modeling and simulation for the latest design-for-test fields, including combinational and sequential circuits, controllability, and observability; deterministic algorithms; digital circuit dynamics; timing verification; built-in self-test (BIST) architecture; scan cell operations; and functional and diagnostic testing. The book also discusses the automatic test pattern generation (ATPG) process, the logical determinant theory, and joint test action group (JTAG) interface models. Digital Integrated Circuits explores the possibilities of MATLAB's tools in the development of application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design systems. The book shows how to incorporate Simulink and Stateflow into the process of modern digital design.

This book was released on 2018-03-12 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stateflow is an environment for modeling and simulating combinatorial and sequential decision logic based on state machines and flow charts. Stateflow lets you combine graphical and tabular representations, including state transition diagrams, flow charts, state transition tables, and truth tables, to model how your system reacts to events, time-based conditions, and external input signals. Add data when you want to store values that are visible at a specific level of the Stateflow hierarchy. You can store and retrieve data that resides internally in the Stateflow workspace and externally in the Simulink model or application that embeds the chart. Actions in your chart can refer to internal and external data. You can use data defined in a Stateflow chart by multiple Stateflow objects in the chart. An event is a Stateflow object that can trigger actions in one of these objects: a Simulink triggered subsystem, a Simulink function-call subsystem and a Stateflow chart. In Stateflow, you can use messages to communicate within and between Stateflow charts. From a chart, you send and forward messages that can hold data. After you send a message, an input or local queue for a chart receives it. The message is held in the queue until the chart evaluates the message.

Book excerpt: This textbook provides engineering students with instruction on processing signals encountered in speech, music, and wireless communications using software or hardware by employing basic mathematical methods. The book starts with an overview of signal processing, introducing readers to the field. It goes on to give instruction in converting continuous time signals into digital signals and discusses various methods to process the digital signals, such as filtering. The author uses MATLAB throughout as a user-friendly software tool to perform various digital signal processing algorithms and to simulate real-time systems. Readers learn how to convert analog signals into digital signals; how to process these signals using software or hardware; and how to write algorithms to perform useful operations on the acquired signals such as filtering, detecting digitally modulated signals, correcting channel distortions, etc. Students are also shown how to convert MATLAB codes into firmware codes. Further, students will be able to apply the basic digital signal processing techniques in their workplace. The book is based on the author's popular online course at University of California, San Diego.

Book excerpt: The present book includes a set of selected extended papers from the 4th International Conference on Simulation and Modeling Methodologies, Technologies and Applications (SIMULTECH 2014), held in Vienna, Austria, from 28 to 30 August 2014. The conference brought together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in methodologies and applications of modeling and simulation. New and innovative solutions are reported in this book. SIMULTECH 2014 received 167 submissions, from 45 countries, in all continents. After a double blind paper review performed by the Program Committee, 23% were accepted as full papers and thus selected for oral presentation. Additional papers were accepted as short papers and posters. A further selection was made after the Conference, based also on the assessment of presentation quality and audience interest, so that this book includes the extended and revised versions of the very best papers of SIMULTECH 2014. Commitment to high quality standards is a major concern of SIMULTECH that will be maintained in the next editions, considering not only the stringent paper acceptance ratios but also the quality of the program committee, keynote lectures, participation level and logistics.
