Download or read book Selecciones de Matematicas Aplicadas written by Max H. Lombardi and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-09-21 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Fundamentals de Ciencia de Polimeros written by Juan J. Iruin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a new, basic introduction to polymer science. It is both comprehensive and readable. The authors are leading educators in this field with extensive backgrounds in industrial and academic polymer research. The text starts with a description of the types of microstructures found in polymer materials. This provides an understanding of some of the key features of the various mechanisms of homopolymerization and copolymerization which are discussed in following chapters. Also discussed in these chapters are the kinetics and statistics of polymerization, with a separate chapter on the characterization of chain structure by spectroscopic methods. The next part of the text deals with chain conformation, structure and morphology, leading to a discussion of crystallization, melting and glass transition. The discussion then moves from solid state to solution properties where solution thermodynamics is introduced. This provides the basis for discussion of the measurement of molecular weight by various solution methods. The final chapter deals with mechanical and rheological properties which are discussed from a phenomenological continuum approach and then in terms of a fundamental molecular perspective. Altogether, this new text provides a comprehensive, readable introduction to and overview of polymer science. It is well illustrated with schematics prepared for this text to help in the understanding of key concepts. It will provide a basic understanding of today's polymer science for technical and engineering personnel not already familiar with the subject, and a convenient update and overview for materials scientists.

Book Synopsis Business Forecasting by : John E. Hanke
Download or read book Business Forecasting written by John E. Hanke and published by Pearson Educación. This book was released on 2005 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This top-selling book presents, in a straightforward, application-driven manner, the basic statistical techniques necessary for preparing individual business forecasts and long-range plans. The emphasis is on the application of techniques by management for decision-making. This essential book provides understandable coverage of several important topics, often omitted from other books, including econometrics; autocorrelation analysis and the use of Box-Jenkins techniques; judgmental forecasting techniques; and the means of selecting the correct forecasting technique and analyzing data. The book also reviews statistical concepts prior to introducing material that requires an understanding of those concepts. The sixth edition of Business Forecasting has been revised to include instructions on using Excel spreadsheets and the statistical package MINITAB in forecasting. An essential reference for every professional in a business of any size, from large corporations to small family-run firms.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statistics in Volcanology is a comprehensive guide to modern statistical methods applied in volcanology written by today's leading authorities. The volume aims to show how the statistical analysis of complex volcanological data sets, including time series, and numerical models of volcanic processes can improve our ability to forecast volcanic eruptions. Specific topics include the use of expert elicitation and Bayesian methods in eruption forecasting, statistical models of temporal and spatial patterns of volcanic activity, analysis of time series in volcano seismology, probabilistic hazard assessment, and assessment of numerical models using robust statistical methods. Also provided are comprehensive overviews of volcanic phenomena, and a full glossary of both volcanological and statistical terms. Statistics in Volcanology is essential reading for advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and research scientists interested in this multidisciplinary field.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 740 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Henry O. Pollak Chairman of the International Program Committee Bell Laboratories Murray Hill, New Jersey, USA The Fourth International Congress on Mathematics Education was held in Berkeley, California, USA, August 10-16, 1980. Previous Congresses were held in Lyons in 1969, Exeter in 1972, and Karlsruhe in 1976. Attendance at Berkeley was about 1800 full and 500 associate members from about 90 countries; at least half of these come from outside of North America. About 450 persons participated in the program either as speakers or as presiders; approximately 40 percent of these came from the U.S. or Canada. There were four plenary addresses; they were delivered by Hans Freudenthal on major problems of mathematics education, Hermina Sinclair on the relationship between the learning of language and of mathematics, Seymour Papert on the computer as carrier of mathematical culture, and Hua Loo-Keng on popularising and applying mathematical methods. Gearge Polya was the honorary president of the Congress; illness prevented his planned attendence but he sent a brief presentation entitled, "Mathematics Improves the Mind". There was a full program of speakers, panelists, debates, miniconferences, and meetings of working and study groups. In addition, 18 major projects from around the world were invited to make presentations, and various groups representing special areas of concern had the opportunity to meet and to plan their future activities.
