Die Begriffe offene Jugendarbeit, Handlungskompetenzen der offenen Jugendarbeit, Jugendarbeit im interkulturellen Kontext, Kultur, Jugendkultur, Multikollektivität, Interkulturalität, Interkulturelle Kompetenz, Interkulturelle Kompetenz in pädagogischen Berufs- und Handlungsfeldern, Diversität, Interkulturelle Kommunikation und das TOPOI-Modell und die Bedeutung dieses Modells für die offene Jugendarbeit werden anhand von Fachliteratur beschrieben und die Verbindung dieser theoretischen Begriffsdefinitionen für die offene Jugendarbeit hergestellt. Kapitel 3 umfasst die empirische Forschung. In diesem Kapitel wird die Forschungsmethode dargestellt und theoretisch begründet. Der Zugang zum Feld wird dargestellt und die Beobachtung wird allgemein anhand von Fachliteratur erläutert. Des Weiteren wird die Gestaltung der Beobachtung gezeigt, die Inhaltsanalyse theoretisch erklärt und die Auswertung der empirischen Forschung anhand von Kategorien gemacht. Das Kapitel 4 spiegelt die Zusammenfassung der Bachelorarbeit wider. Hier werden kurz die wichtigsten Erkenntnisse wiedergegeben und die Forschungsfrage „Welche Bedeutung hat Interkulturelle Kompetenz in der offenen Jugendarbeit?“ wird beantwortet. Im Zuge der teilnehmenden Beobachtung haben sich daraus Kategorien entwickelt, die der Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage dienen.
