Book Synopsis Handbook of Surfaces and Interfaces of Materials: Surface and interface phenomena by : Hari Singh Nalwa
Download or read book Handbook of Surfaces and Interfaces of Materials: Surface and interface phenomena written by Hari Singh Nalwa and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook brings together, under a single cover, all aspects of the chemistry, physics, and engineering of surfaces and interfaces of materials currently studied in academic and industrial research. It covers different experimental and theoretical aspects of surfaces and interfaces, their physical properties, and spectroscopic techniques that have been applied to a wide class of inorganic, organic, polymer, and biological materials. The diversified technological areas of surface science reflect the explosion of scientific information on surfaces and interfaces of materials and their spectroscopic characterization. The large volume of experimental data on chemistry, physics, and engineering aspects of materials surfaces and interfaces remains scattered in so many different periodicals, therefore this handbook compilation is needed. The information presented in this multivolume reference draws on two decades of pioneering research on the surfaces and interfaces of materials to offer a complete perspective on the topic. These five volumes-Surface and Interface Phenomena; Surface Characterization and Properties; Nanostructures, Micelles, and Colloids; Thin Films and Layers; Biointerfaces and Applications-provide multidisciplinary review chapters and summarize the current status of the field covering important scientific and technological developments made over past decades in surfaces and interfaces of materials and spectroscopic techniques with contributions from internationally recognized experts from all over the world. Fully cross-referenced, this book has clear, precise, and wide appeal as an essential reference source long due for the scientific community. The complete reference on the topic of surfaces and interfaces of materials The information presented in this multivolume reference draws on two decades of pioneering research Provides multidisciplinary review chapters and summarizes the current status of the field Covers important scientific and technological developments made over past decades in surfaces and interfaces of materials and spectroscopic techniques Contributions from internationally recognized experts from all over the world.

Book Synopsis Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine by : Robert E. Marx
Download or read book Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine written by Robert E. Marx and published by Best Publishing. This book was released on 2020-10-12 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook was finalized during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. For years prior to the pandemic, clinical trials have shown improvement and cures of pulmonary disorders with the intravenous administration of mesenchymal stem cells. These cells are administered into the venous system, pass through the heart, and then lodge in the capillary network of the lungs where they decrease scar tissue and stimulate the regeneration of new lung tissue. The known benefits of cell therapy for pulmonary disease has been the foundation for the use of allogeneic stem cells to effectively treat (and in some cases cure) COVID-19-related lung disorders. Sadly, many of the highly qualified health care professionals caring for these critically ill patients are unfamiliar with the concept of stem cells and regenerative medicine. This unfamiliarity has resulted in patients throughout the world not receiving the benefit of these potentially life-saving treatments. The goal of this textbook is to provide a basic scientific and clinical multispecialty reference source for stem cells and regenerative medicine to be used as an extension of the American College of Regenerative Medicine.™ Chapters focus on basic science as well as the extravascular applications of regenerative medicine for all hard and soft tissues of the body including musculoskeletal and orthopedics, dental and maxillofacial surgery, and dermatology and plastic surgery. Other topics include plasma products such as PRP and PPP, tissue banking, stem cell expansion, and regulatory guidelines. It is our hope that this textbook will assist in the following areas: - Academic institutions will utilize this textbook as a reference source to educate health care professionals of the future, so that regenerative medicine is integrated into the core curriculum and foundation of medical learning. These professionals include medical doctors of all specialties, dentists and maxillofacial surgeons, veterinarians, researchers, nurses, study coordinators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, perfusionists, healthcare and life science attorneys, advocates, administrators, and policy makers. - Practicing health care professionals who have already finished their training will read this textbook with an open mind and understand more about stem cells and regenerative medicine. - To provide a foundation of accurate peer-reviewed scientific and clinical information for patient and industry advocates, as well as those involved in formulation of health care policy.
Book Synopsis Surfaces and Interfaces of Ceramic Materials by : L.C. Dufour
Download or read book Surfaces and Interfaces of Ceramic Materials written by L.C. Dufour and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 820 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the NATO Advanced Study Institute on Surfaces and Interfaces of Ceramic Materials, held on the Oleron island, France, in September 1988. This Institute was organized in nine months after receiving the agreement of the NATO Scientific Affairs Division. Despite this very short time, most of the lecturers contacted have accepted our invitation to prepare a specific talk. The meeting was held at "La Vieille Perrotine" on the Oleron island. This holiday village of the French CNRS is located near the Ocean in a natural area which contributed to create a very pleasant atmosphere favourable to develop interaction between the 91 participants in this Institute. First of all, the Institute was aimed at diffusing the foremost results on the characterization of and the role played by surfaces, grain boundaries and interfaces in preparation and overall properties of ceramic materials, mainly of oxide ceramics. Through its interdisciplinary character, the Institute was also aimed at developing interaction between scientists and engineers interested in basic and practical aspects of processing and use of ceramics.
