Book excerpt: This project consists of a cultural resources survey and assessment of approximately 1,175 acres of land which will be affected by proposed levee modification and improvement in Lee County, Arkansas. During the course of the survey four historic sites and one prehistoric site were noted within the area to be impacted. Based on the evaluation of material examined and consideration of National Register criteria for assessing significance, these cultural resources are not of local, regional, or national significance. An additional previously recorded site (3Le3) falls within the project right-of-way. Based on intensive surface and subsurface examination of the site and evaluation of previously published material, it is recommended that project plans be altered to avoid the Barrett Site (3Le3) and its immediate surroundings.

Phase I and II. written by Michael J. McNerney and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This cultural resources survey and assessment is conducted in a study area consisting of ten archaeological site areas, or portions thereof, which lie within the impact area of the proposed Kaskaskia Island levee project, Kaskaskia Island, ILL. Based upon information gained from the initial and present surface reconnaissances, along with shovel testing results, there is no evidence to indicate the presence of significant prehistoric or historic archaeological remains on sites R-329, R-336, R-339, R-352, R-354, R-359, R-361. Phase II recommendations state that sites R-357 and R-360 do not meet National Register criteria. Construction may proceed on the levee at Kaskaskia Island without adversely effecting significant prehistoric and historic cultural resources in all areas. (Author).
