Book Synopsis A Dilogarithmic Extension of Liouville's Theorem on Integration in Finite Terms by : Joel Moses
Download or read book A Dilogarithmic Extension of Liouville's Theorem on Integration in Finite Terms written by Joel Moses and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The result obtained generalizes Liouville's Theorem by allowing, in addition to the elementary functions, dilogarithms to appear in the integral of an elementary function. The basic conclusion is that an associated function to the dilogarithm, if dilogarithms appear in the integral, appears linearly, with logarithms appearing in a non-linear way. (kr).

Download or read book Integration in Finite Terms: Fundamental Sources written by Clemens G. Raab and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-06-06 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume gives an up-to-date review of the subject Integration in Finite Terms. The book collects four significant texts together with an extensive bibliography and commentaries discussing these works and their impact. These texts, either out of print or never published before, are fundamental to the subject of the book. Applications in combinatorics and physics have aroused a renewed interest in this well-developed area devoted to finding solutions of differential equations and, in particular, antiderivatives, expressible in terms of classes of elementary and special functions.

Book Synopsis Structural Properties of Polylogarithms by : Leonard Lewin
Download or read book Structural Properties of Polylogarithms written by Leonard Lewin and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1991 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About ten years ago, the handful of peculiar numerical diogarithmic identities, known since the time of Euler and Landen, gave rise to new discoveries concerning cyclotomic equations and related polylogarithmic ladders. These discoveries were made mostly by the methods of classical analysis, with help from machine computation. About the same time, starting with Bloch's studies on the application of the dilogarithm in algebraic K-theory and algebraic geometry, many important discoveries were made in diverse areas. This book seeks to provide a synthesis of these two streams of thought. In addition to an account of ladders and their association with functional equations, the chapters include applications to volume calculations in Lobatchevsky geometry, relations to partition theory, connections with Clausen's function, new functional equations, and applications to K-theory and other branches of abstract algebra. This rapidly-expanding field is brought up to date with two appendices, and the book concludes with an extensive bibliography of recent publications. About two-thirds of the material is accessible to mathematicians and scientists in many areas, while the remainder requires more specialized background in abstract algebra.

Book Synopsis Algorithms for Computer Algebra by : Keith O. Geddes
Download or read book Algorithms for Computer Algebra written by Keith O. Geddes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1992-09-30 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Algorithms for Computer Algebra is the first comprehensive textbook to be published on the topic of computational symbolic mathematics. The book first develops the foundational material from modern algebra that is required for subsequent topics. It then presents a thorough development of modern computational algorithms for such problems as multivariate polynomial arithmetic and greatest common divisor calculations, factorization of multivariate polynomials, symbolic solution of linear and polynomial systems of equations, and analytic integration of elementary functions. Numerous examples are integrated into the text as an aid to understanding the mathematical development. The algorithms developed for each topic are presented in a Pascal-like computer language. An extensive set of exercises is presented at the end of each chapter. Algorithms for Computer Algebra is suitable for use as a textbook for a course on algebraic algorithms at the third-year, fourth-year, or graduate level. Although the mathematical development uses concepts from modern algebra, the book is self-contained in the sense that a one-term undergraduate course introducing students to rings and fields is the only prerequisite assumed. The book also serves well as a supplementary textbook for a traditional modern algebra course, by presenting concrete applications to motivate the understanding of the theory of rings and fields.
