Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world of Heartstrings is one awash in neon lights, sequins, and the allure of the country music scene. Yet it's also the down-to-earth story of Genna Ross, a star-studded entertainer who yearns for the simple life of her West Virginia childhood, and the only man she ever loved but couldn't have. Only plain and lonely Emily Carson could see the unrealized beauty of a dilapidated Victorian mansion. That is, until she meets someone who has an eye for home restoration, and for discovering the hidden treasures of one vulnerable woman. Restore the Joy is a story of a love against all odds, and the perfect timing of our faithful God. Jamie Carrigan has flunked out of college and now she's living with her grandmother miles away from "civilization." What good could come from this? For starters, in Passage of the Heart, two handsome men vying for her attention, and Grandma's rock-solid, old-fashioned Christian faith. It's only A Matter of Choice, but to Stacie and Brad, it's their future happiness. They were the ideal couple, seemingly made for each other, until a career opportunity of a lifetime presents itself to Stacie. Should she continue up the corporate ladder - and into the arms of another suitor - or stay with her first love?

More than 2,000 romances are published annually, making it difficult for fans and the librarians who advise them to keep pace with new titles, emerging authors, and constant evolution of this dynamic genre. Fortunately, romance expert and librarian Kristin Ramsdell provides a definitive guide to this fiction genre that serves as an indispensible resource for those interested in it—including fans searching for reading material—as well as for library staff, scholars, and romance writers themselves. This title updates the last edition of Romance Fiction: A Guide to the Genre, published in 1999.While the emphasis is on newer titles, many of the important older classics are retained, keeping the focus of the book on the entire genre, instead of only those titles published during the last decade. Specific changes include new chapters on linked and continuing romances, a new section on "Chick Lit" in the Contemporary Romance chapter, an expansion of coverage on the alternative reality subset. Book Synopsis Publishing Romance by : John Markert
Download or read book Publishing Romance written by John Markert and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2016-03-15 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Romance novels have attracted considerable attention since their mass market debut in 1939, yet seldom has the industry itself been analyzed. Founded in 1949, Harlequin quickly gained market domination with their contemporary romances. Other publishers countered with historical romances, leading to the rise of "bodice-ripper" romances in the 1970s. The liberation of the romance novel's content during the 1980s brought a vitality to the market that was dubbed a revolution, but the real romance revolution began in the 1990s with developments in the mainstream publishing industry and continues today. This book traces the history and evolution of the romance industry, covering successful (and not so successful) trends and describing changes in romance publishing that paved the way for the many popular subgenres flooding the market in the 21st century.

Book Synopsis Conflict and Colonialism in 21st Century Romantic Historical Fiction by : Hsu-Ming Teo
Download or read book Conflict and Colonialism in 21st Century Romantic Historical Fiction written by Hsu-Ming Teo and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-06-13 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how postmillennial Anglophone women writers use romantic narrativisations of history to explore, revise, repurpose and challenge the past in their novels, exposing the extent to which past societies were damaging to women by instead imagining alternative histories. The novelists discussed employ the generic conventions of romance to narrate their understanding of historical and contemporary injustice and to reflect upon women’s achievements and the price they paid for autonomy and a life of public purpose. The volume seeks, firstly, to discuss the work of revision or reparation being performed by romantic historical fiction and, secondly, to analyse how the past is being repurposed for use in the present. It contends that the discourses and genre of romance work to provide a reparative reading of the past, but there are limitations and entrenched problems in such readings.
