Book excerpt: 'Mental illness has led to some of the worst times of my life... but it has also led to some of the most brilliant. Bad things happen, but good things can come from them. And strange as it might sound, my mental health has been vastly improved by being mentally ill.' From depression and anxiety to personality disorders, one in four of us experience mental health issues every year and, in these strange and unsettling times, more of us than ever are struggling to cope. In No Such Thing As Normal, Bryony offers sensible, practical advice, covering subjects such as sleep, addiction, worry, medication, self-image, boundary setting, therapy, learned behaviour, mindfulness and, of course - as the founder of Mental Health Mates - the power of walking and talking. She also strives to equip those in need of help with tools and information to get the best out of a poorly funded system that can be both frightening and overwhelming. The result is a lively, honest and direct guide to mental health that cuts through the Instagram-wellness bubble to talk about how each of us can feel stronger, better and just a little bit less alone.

Download or read book A Nearly Normal Family written by M. T. Edvardsson and published by Celadon Books. This book was released on 2019-06-25 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now a Netflix Limited Series "...A compulsively readable tour de force." —The Wall Street Journal New York Times Book Review recommends M.T. Edvardsson’s A Nearly Normal Family and lauds it as a “page-turner” that forces the reader to confront “the compromises we make with ourselves to be the people we believe our beloveds expect.” (NYTimes Book Review Summer Reading Issue) M.T. Edvardsson’s A Nearly Normal Family is a gripping legal thriller that forces the reader to consider: How far would you go to protect the ones you love? In this twisted narrative of love and murder, a horrific crime makes a seemingly normal family question everything they thought they knew about their life—and one another. Eighteen-year-old Stella Sandell stands accused of the brutal murder of a man almost fifteen years her senior. She is an ordinary teenager from an upstanding local family. What reason could she have to know a shady businessman, let alone to kill him? Stella’s father, a pastor, and mother, a criminal defense attorney, find their moral compasses tested as they defend their daughter, while struggling to understand why she is a suspect. Told in an unusual three-part structure, A Nearly Normal Family asks the questions: How well do you know your own children? How far would you go to protect them?

Book Synopsis Germany's Freefall by : Hermann Dr. Rochholz
Download or read book Germany's Freefall written by Hermann Dr. Rochholz and published by epubli. This book was released on 2021-09-05 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: German unique "ideas" are described making legal laws from the gut violating the laws of nature (physics). It provides proof with official figures that none of this can work. Several examples with their pitfalls are explained. Some small calculations are made to show all this (1 page). Because all this can only be done with ideology, the psychology behind it is unraveled. Magazine articles are used as examples to show the enormous effort that goes into manipulating the population in Germany. It is a bit like a textbook explaining how to evaluate "innovations" which are shown as a silver bullet to save the world. In summary, it shows the means by which Germany is systematically being driven to ruin by green ideology. Energy is theorized and education is destroyed. Natural sciences are no longer part of German education. The new democratic censorship is, that journalists modify stories acording their morality. Engineering basics are already missing in all topics. To show one result: "renewables" cannot work in Germany because of the high population density and because of lack of lossless energy storage. Therefore it makes no sense to compare Germany with other countries with different conditions.

Download or read book Deformed and Destructive Beings written by George Ochoa and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2017-02-10 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why are audiences drawn to horror films? Previous answers to that question have included everything from a need to experience fear to a hunger for psychotherapy. This critical text proposes that the horror film's primary purpose is to present monsters, best understood as deformed and destructive beings. These monsters satisfy the audience's desire to know these beings, in particular those beings too fantastic and dangerous to know in real life. The text illuminates many aspects of the horror film genre, including epistemology, ethics, evaluation, history, monster taxonomy, and filmmaking techniques.
