Book Synopsis Practical Inorganic Chemistry by : G. Pass
Download or read book Practical Inorganic Chemistry written by G. Pass and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In revising the text opportunity has been taken to introduce SI units throughout. An Appendix has been included which contains tables of SI units and a table of conversion factors for use when consulting data in non-SI units. Chapter 19 now includes experiments demon strating the use of ion-exchange and solid-liquid chromatography_ Exercises involving colorimetry have been included in Chapter 17. These techniques are introduced as part of a complementary exercise where their relevance is seen as part of a complete piece of work. Minor improvements have been made to some of the experimental procedures and we are grateful to those who have made helpful suggestions in this respect. G. PASS H. SUTCLIFFE iii Preface to the First Edition The student of inorganic chemistry is fortunate in having a wide choice of textbooks covering the descriptive and theoretical aspects of the sUbject. There is no comparable choice of textbooks covering practical inorganic chemistry. Moreover, there is a tendency for many students to draw an unfortunate distinction between chemistry taught in the lecture room, and laboratory work. Consideration of these points prompted the preparation of this book, in which we have attempted to emphasize the relationship between theory and practice.
Book Synopsis Inorganic Electrochemistry by : Piero Zanello
Download or read book Inorganic Electrochemistry written by Piero Zanello and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrochemistry can be an elegant and essential support to synthetic inorganic chemistry. However, it is often perceived as a difficult technique. This book aims to introduce inorganic chemists to electrochemical investigations in as straightforward a way as possible. First, the reader is introduced to the theory of electron transfer processes, how they can be studied by various electrochemical techniques, and the practical procedures required. The book then goes on to look extensively, and with numerous illustrations, at the application of the techniques in the multiple fields of inorganic chemistry (including organometallics, coordination compounds, bioinorganics/biomimetics and materials science). Topics covered include: metallocenes; organometallic and coordination complexes; metal complexes of redox active ligands; metal-carbonyl clusters; superconductors; molecular wires; and proteins. Throughout, special attention is paid to the structural effects accompanying the electron transfer processes. This unique book bridges the gap between undergraduate and research-level electrochemistry books, and will be welcomed as an introduction to electrochemical applications within inorganic chemistry.

Book Synopsis Organic Analytical Chemistry by : Jag Mohan
Download or read book Organic Analytical Chemistry written by Jag Mohan and published by Alpha Science Int'l Ltd.. This book was released on 2003 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapid developments in analytical techniques and the use of modern reagents in organic synthesis during the last two decades have revolutionized the approach to organic structure determination. As advanced topics in organic analysis such as spectroscopic methods are being introduced, postgraduate students (majoring in organic chemistry) have been feeling handicapped by the non-availability of a book that could uncover various aspects of qualitative and quantitative organic analysis. This book is written primarily to stimulate the interest of students of organic chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences in organic analytical chemistry. Key features: Identification and characterization of organic compounds by classical methods Mechanism of various reactions involved in the detection of functional groups and their derivatization Functional groups interfering with a given test procedure Identification of organic compounds by spectral methods (IR, UV, NMR and Mass Spectrometry) Chemical analysis by other instrumental techniques-Atomic emission spectroscopy, Electron spin resonance spectroscopy, Atomic absorption spectroscopy, flnorimetry & Phosphorimetry, Flame photometry and X-ray methods General techniques for separation and purification including Gas Chromatography and HPLC Preparation of organic compounds based on important name reactions and pharmaceutical properties Mechanism of the reactions involved in the synthesis Simple analytical techniques and specific methods of quantitative elemental, functional groups and biochemical estimations Composite spectral problems Incorporating ample modern techniques of organic analysis, this book will be of great value to graduate & postgraduate students, teachers and researchers in the field of organic chemistry and pharmaceutical sciences.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Inorganic Chemistry: Theoretical and Practical; With an Introduction to the Principles of Chemical Analysis, Inorganic and OrganicAs a consequence of these alterations it became absolutely necessary that a text-book for the use of students of classes connected with the Science and Art Department should include the whole of the subject-matter indicated in this recent addition to the syllabus. In order to attain this end I have carefully te-written the whole book, and, disturbing the original plan as little as possible, have incorporated with it any additional matter required to make it fully meet the requirements of both students and teachers. A number of additional questions have been added to those given at the end of the book. In particular, greater attention is given to the exercises on chemical calculations a number of typical examples are selected and worked out in detail, in order to illustrate the prin ciples involved. In this edition the paragraphs are num bered and have side headings. The more important statements and definitions are printed in bolder type. These modifications will, I hope, be of assistance to the student.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
