Ese compendio de vectores socioeconómicos permite, por una parte, establecer una radiografía dinámica de los procesos de integración laboral de la población inmigrante y, por otra, categorizar y analizar el papel desempeñado por las ETT con sede en la comunidad murciana, con un protagonismo sin parangón en el contexto nacional. Las ETT ofrecen un servicio normalizado de intermediación privada dirigido al conjunto de la ciudadanía, constituyen un recurso de búsqueda de empleo y se erigen en un instrumento que ayuda a aminorar las contrataciones en el ámbito de la economía informal. Pero al mismo tiempo, por la propia naturaleza de contrataciones temporales que efectúan, reproducen la excesiva inestabilidad en el mercado de trabajo agrícola murciano. Las empresas de trabajo temporal asentadas en la Región de Murcia pueden, por tanto, ser una herramienta útil para la inserción laboral de la población inmigrante extranjera, en tanto que procuran el acceso al mercado de trabajo, y también una cierta continuidad en el mismo. Paralelamente, sin embargo, también favorecen la inteligible tendencia a la mercantilización de las relaciones laborales, afectando de forma negativa a la mejora de la calidad en el empleo, y pueden suponer un espacio de guetización dedicado exclusivamente a la población trabajadora extranjera.

She argues that while Mexican workers do not necessarily constitute cheap labour for Canadian growers, they are vital for the survival of some agricultural sectors because they are always available for work, even on holidays and weekends, or when exhausted, sick, or injured. Basok exposes the mechanisms that make Mexican seasonal workers unfree and shows that the workers' virtual inability to refuse the employer's demand for their labour is related not only to economic need but to the rigid control exercised by the Mexican Ministry of Labour and Social Planning and Canadian growers over workers' participation in the Canadian guest worker program, as well as the paternalistic relationship between the Mexican harvesters and their Canadian employers.
