This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The full revision of this text has presented a number of problems. The basic data have changed little since the second edition, although they have been much extended in depth and in detail. To some extent this has helped to shorten the present text as many controversial issues which needed to be presented at some length have now been resolved so that only the final conclusions need to be given. However, it remains the case that very few new group frequencies have emerged over the past fifteen years and the emphasis of group-frequency studies has tended to shift away from the identification of specific groups towards their other possible uses in the solution of structural and chemical problems. The study of the interplay of mechanical and electronic effects in determining the directions and extents of group-frequency shifts which result from changes in the substituents has told us much about chemical mechanisms themselves, and has opened up new possibilities for the use of group frequencies in areas such as the study of rotational isomerism, the measurement of bond angles, and the use of frequency relationships to derive other chemical and physical properties.

Book Synopsis Infrared Spectral Interpretation by : Brian C. Smith
Download or read book Infrared Spectral Interpretation written by Brian C. Smith and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This author's second volume introduces basic principles of interpreting infrared spectral data, teaching its readers to make sense of the data coming from an infrared spectrometer. Contents include spectra and diagnostic bands for the more common functional groups as well as chapters on polyester spectra and interpretation aids. Discussions include: Science of infrared interpretation Light and molecular vibrations How and why molecules absorb infrared radiation Peak heights, intensities, and widths Hydrocarbons, carbonyl groups, and molecules with C-N bonds Polymers and inorganic molecules The use of atlases, library searching, spectral subtraction, and the Internet in augmenting interpretation Each chapter presents an introduction to the nomenclature and structure of a specific functional group and proceeds with the important diagnostic bands for each group. Infrared Spectral Interpretation serves both novices and experienced practitioners in this field. The author maintains a website and blog with supplemental material. His training course schedule is also available online.
Book Synopsis Infrared Spectroscopy of Symmetric and Spherical Top Molecules for Space Observation, Volume 2 by : Pierre-Richard Dahoo
Download or read book Infrared Spectroscopy of Symmetric and Spherical Top Molecules for Space Observation, Volume 2 written by Pierre-Richard Dahoo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-09-15 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, Volume 4 in the series, is dedicated to the relationship between laboratory spectroscopy, recording ever-more-complex spectra using increasingly powerful instruments benefiting from the latest technology, and the development of observation using instruments that are embedded in mobile probes or nanosatellites. The theoretical models described in Volumes 1, 2 and 3 are used in this volume, applying the cumulant theorem in the mean-field theory framework to interpret the near and mid-infrared spectra of symmetric top molecules, such as ammonia (NH3) and spherical molecules, such as methane (CH4). These molecules can be isolated in their gaseous form or subjected to the environmental constraints of a nano-cage (a substitution site, clathrate, fullerene or zeolite) or surfaces. These methods are not only valuable in the fields of environmental sciences, planetology and astrophysics, but also fit into the framework of data processing and the concept of Big Data.
Book Synopsis The Handbook of Infrared and Raman Characteristic Frequencies of Organic Molecules by : Daimay Lin-Vien
