Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originating at an international forum held at the University of Vic (Spain), the twelve essays collected here attest to important changes in translation practice and the assumptions which underpin them. Leading theorists respond to the state of Translation Studies today, particularly the epistemological dilemma between theories that are empirically oriented and those that are inspired by developments in Cultural Studies. But the volume is also practical. Experienced instructors survey existing pedagogies at translator/interpreter training programs and explore new techniques that address the technological and global challenges of the new millennium. Among the topics considered are: how to use translation technology in the classroom, how to construct a syllabus for a course in audiovisual translating or in translation theory, and how to develop guidelines for a program for community interpreters or conference interpreters. The contributors all assume that translation, whether written or oral, does not occupy a neutral space. It is a cross-cultural exchange that produces far-reaching social effects. Their essays significantly advance the theoretical and practical understanding of translation along these lines.

Book excerpt: Research in quantum communication requires knowledge of the information theory and teleportation of information in any physical form using the quantum field as media of all different processes and aspects on the managing of their information, their boson processing and their technologies. Likewise, one of the most important principles in researching is the quantum intertwining to define the management of communication of the quantum type. Other aspects related to the design of technologies to the quantum communication base and their development on transceptor models of Bose-Einstein observation nature to form a quantum laser wave of atoms. This quantum wave is a wave-links chain that defines and determines the quantum communication. Quantum computing models are very useful to establish the programming order required in the quantum communication processes. The present book is a compilation of the chapters that cover several of these themes and in other cases, put the field theories to test regarding what is quantum communication and its technologies.

Book excerpt: Education has always been one of the cornerstones for societal evolution and economic growth. We are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education and especially post-secondary education. The use of technology impacts the way educational content is presented and acquired in many areas. The designs of immersive educational worlds and the combination of rational and emotional educational experiences that cannot be designed in the same way in the traditional classroom will come increasingly into focus. Seen in this way the book also contributes to generalize the experience of the COVID-19 crisis and its impact to quality of learning and education. Scientifically based statements as well as excellent experiences (best practice) are necessary. This book contains scientific papers in the fields of: The future of learning Eruptive technologies in learningPedagogy of online learning Deep learning vs machine learning: opportunities and challengesReimagining and rapid transition of learning Interested readership includes policymakers, academics, educators, researchers in pedagogy and learning theory, schoolteachers, learning industry, further and continuing education lecturers, etc.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We met again in front of the statue of Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz in the city of Leipzig. Leibniz, a famous son of Leipzig, planned automatic logical inference using symbolic computation, aimed to collate all human knowledge. Today, artificial intelligence deals with large amounts of data and knowledge and finds new information using machine learning and data mining. Machine learning and data mining are irreplaceable subjects and tools for the theory of pattern recognition and in applications of pattern recognition such as bioinformatics and data retrieval. This was the fourth edition of MLDM in Pattern Recognition which is the main event of Technical Committee 17 of the International Association for Pattern Recognition; it started out as a workshop and continued as a conference in 2003. Today, there are many international meetings which are titled “machine learning” and “data mining”, whose topics are text mining, knowledge discovery, and applications. This meeting from the first focused on aspects of machine learning and data mining in pattern recognition problems. We planned to reorganize classical and well-established pattern recognition paradigms from the viewpoints of machine learning and data mining. Though it was a challenging program in the late 1990s, the idea has inspired new starting points in pattern recognition and effects in other areas such as cognitive computer vision.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Automatic Text Categorization and Clustering are becoming more and more important as the amount of text in electronic format grows and the access to it becomes more necessary and widespread. Well known applications are spam filtering and web search, but a large number of everyday uses exist (intelligent web search, data mining, law enforcement, etc.) Currently, researchers are employing many intelligent techniques for text categorization and clustering, ranging from support vector machines and neural networks to Bayesian inference and algebraic methods, such as Latent Semantic Indexing. This volume offers a wide spectrum of research work developed for intelligent text categorization and clustering. In the following, we give a brief introduction of the chapters that are included in this book.
