Book excerpt: Con este trabajo se pretende comprender si los sellos de certificación sostenible influyen sobre las elecciones de destinos turísticos y alojamientos de los turistas. Para ello, ha sido necesario la contextualización del tema en un marco teórico centrado en la descripción de conceptos básicos de marketing relacionados con el turismo, la segmentación que se produce en este sector y la creación de productos turísticos como estrategia de marketing, ya que el sector turístico posee determinadas peculiaridades que lo diferencian de otros servicios. En este apartado también se hace referencia al concepto de branding place, y a la importancia de la creación de marca para los destinos y establecimientos turísticos. A continuación, se exponen los conceptos de desarrollo sostenible, ecoturismo y el turismo sostenible, así como las diferencias entre ambos conceptos. Asimismo, se hace referencia las certificaciones turísticas, su definición, el procedimiento certificador que deben seguir las entidades y destinos, las ventajas que este supone y la descripción de las cuatro entidades emisoras de certificaciones sobre las que se va a elaborar el análisis empírico. A partir de la anterior revisión teórica, se describe un estudio empírico realizado con el objetivo de analizar la influencia de los sellos de sostenibilidad turística sobre las decisiones vacacionales de los turistas en la elección de destinos y establecimientos. Finalmente, la última parte del trabajo expone las conclusiones y resultados obtenido en este estudio.
