Book Synopsis Dental Biomaterials by : Edward Sacher
Download or read book Dental Biomaterials written by Edward Sacher and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2018-12-18 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contents of this book touch on the all major dental biomaterials: polymers, composites, ceramics and metals. The first part introduces the readers to the surface physicochemical and mechanical characterizations at the nanoscopic level, and the use of finite element analysis. The second part discusses dental adhesion, resin-based composites, polymerization contraction stress, impression materials and soft liners for total prosthesis. The third part deals with ceramics in restorative dentistry: zirconia and lithium disilicate, the fractography of dental ceramics, as well as bioglass for bone growth. The fourth part discusses the toxicity of mercury in dentistry, and the use of preventive materials for dental diseases. The concluding part identifies imminent techniques for dental biomaterials, such as additive manufacturing (3D printing), and bioprinting in dentistry.
Book Synopsis Implant Surfaces and their Biological and Clinical Impact by : Ann Wennerberg
Download or read book Implant Surfaces and their Biological and Clinical Impact written by Ann Wennerberg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-01-05 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the reader with the knowledge required in order to understand the chemical, physical, mechanical, and topographical aspects of implant surfaces, as well as their impact on the biological response. Common ways to modify implant surfaces are described, and methods for the evaluation of surface properties are presented in an easy-to-read style. Experimental results that have contributed to surface modifications relevant for commercial available implants are presented, with emphasis on in vivo and clinical studies. While the focus is primarily on surface modifications at the micrometer and nanometer levels, alterations at the millimeter level are also covered, including thread designs and their possible influence on stress distribution. In addition, it is analyzed how surface alterations have changed the clinical long-term results for certain groups of patients.
