Sie bringt viele Chancen mit sich, aber auch einige Risiken. So sehen viele Menschen auch eher kritisch auf eine Zukunft in welcher Industrie 4.0. Das vermehrte Einsetzen künstlicher Intelligenzen mach viele Menschen skeptisch und verunsichert. Zu unbekannt und bisher wenig bewährt ist diese Idee. Dazu kommt die Angst ersetzt zu werden, die Angst vor wegfallenden Arbeitsplätzen. Doch auch wenn die Auswirkungen auf Mensch und Wirtschaft noch unklar sind, gibt es viele Stimmen, die diese Ängste als unbegründet abtun. Sie behaupten sogar, Produktionsprozesse würden durch Industrie 4.0 nicht nur preiswerter, sondern würden dadurch tatsächlich sogar mehr, aber eben andere Arbeitsplätze geschaffen. Das einzige, was wirklich sicher ist, ist jedoch, dass das Arbeitsumfeld sich fortschreitend verändern wird. Es wird viele neue Möglichkeiten geben, so auch für Arbeitnehmer. Für Arbeitgeber bedeutet dies vor allem eine Menge Herausforderungen. Viele Anpassungen müssen im Zusammenhang mit dem veränderten Arbeitsumfeld getroffen werden. Das betrifft sowohl das Personalmanagement, als auch andere Bereiche, wie zum Beispiel Cyber Sicherheit oder rechtliche Fragen.
