This has led to a polarization of the labor markets and to a decrease in certain measures of inequality. This phenomenon has been attributed to task-biased technological change (TBTC), which differs from the skilled biased technological change in the fact that not only highly skilled workers have benefited from technology advancement. This book presents evidence of how digitalization and task-biased technological change are affecting the labor markets of different regions of the world and examines the factors that cause this inequality among nations. It examines recent issues around the effect of task-biased technological change on labor markets and the economy in general, with a comparison of different countries in Central and Eastern Europe, North America, and Latin America, as well as in other regions of the world. The incorporation of the abovementioned regions presents relevant particularities for the subject matter addressed in the book. Neste trabalho investigou-se também o sistema financeiro e sua importância para o desenvolvimento industrial brasileiro, na transferência intersetorial de investimentos. A indústria paulista de bens de capital é a que se mostra mais capacitada para processar as mudanças que podem colocar a indústria brasileira num patamar superior em seu processo de desenvolvimento produtivo, devido às exigências de um mercado interno e externo mais competitivo. Verificou-se ainda o processo de reestruturação produtiva industrial no estado de São Paulo, que resultou em uma nova organização espaço-industrial e qual a inserção da indústria de bens de capital nesta nova organização. Concluí-se com este estudo que a estrutura produtiva nacional.

Tendo estes estudos como pano de fundo e também como um direcionador da pesquisa, este livro é o resultado do aprofundamento da pesquisa voltado à produtividade na indústria de transformação no Brasil entre 1996 e 2016. A pesquisa apresentada neste livro pauta no impacto dos investimentos, em suas diferentes modalidades, na produtividade do trabalho. A Política Industrial, Tecnológica e de Comércio Exterior (PITCE – 2003), a Política de Desenvolvimento Produtivo (PDP – 2008) e o Plano Brasil Maior (PBM – 2011) foram concebidos durante os governos do Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) e tiveram como objetivo maior a retomada do desenvolvimento industrial via inovação e difusão de novas tecnologias. Nesta obra, mostramos que os resultados quantitativos e qualitativos aquém do esperado dessas agendas industriais estão largamente relacionados à pouquíssima falta de harmonização entre as esferas de política econômica durante o período.
