Book Synopsis Indicateurs Socio-communautaires Pour Estimer Le Travail Des Femmes Dans Les Communautés by : Louise Toupin
Download or read book Indicateurs Socio-communautaires Pour Estimer Le Travail Des Femmes Dans Les Communautés written by Louise Toupin and published by Condition féminine Canada. This book was released on 2001 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study deals primarily with research on non-economic or non-financial indicators for evaluating the social profitability of work performed by women's groups in the field of community social infrastructure, i.e. the field of human & social development of individuals & communities. The study focusses on the development of social wealth criteria from a feminist perspective. The research involved focus groups with 44 social economy activists in seven regions of Quebec, enabling identification of the type of measurement tools most useful for the research objectives (indicators of social contribution & collective impact). The study then turns to the community indicators trend and the literature emerging from it to map basic reference points for a set of indicators of the contribution of women's groups to quality of life and the communal social fabric. The conclusion of this exploratory research sketches a set of desired (not yet measured) indicators.
Book Synopsis Accounting for Culture by : Caroline Andrew
Download or read book Accounting for Culture written by Caroline Andrew and published by University of Ottawa Press. This book was released on 2005-03-30 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many scholars, practitioners, and policy-makers in the cultural sector argue that Canadian cultural policy is at a crossroads: that the environment for cultural policy-making has evolved substantially and that traditional rationales for state intervention no longer apply. The concept of cultural citizenship is a relative newcomer to the cultural policy landscape, and offers a potentially compelling alternative rationale for government intervention in the cultural sector. Likewise, the articulation and use of cultural indicators and of governance concepts are also new arrivals, emerging as potentially powerful tools for policy and program development. Accounting for Culture is a unique collection of essays from leading Canadian and international scholars that critically examines cultural citizenship, cultural indicators, and governance in the context of evolving cultural practices and cultural policy-making. It will be of great interest to scholars of cultural policy, communications, cultural studies, and public administration alike.

This book was released on 2020-04-06 with total page 657 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together papers presented at the 3rd Conference of Research in Economics and Management (CIREG) held in Morocco in May 2016. With a focus on the challenges of SMEs and innovative solutions, they highlight the contribution of researchers in the fields of business and management, with all their micro and macro-economic aspects. They shed light on the universal scientific vision of the importance of SMEs with answers relevant to their local context and adapted to their specific national situation. The relevance of SME research lies in its heuristic value of analyzing change, rather than in constructing a category, a particularly useful empirical concept. This third volume is focused on marketing and human resources.

Book Synopsis Environmental Fluid Mechanics - Méchanique des Fluides Environnementaux by : CIGB ICOLD
Download or read book Environmental Fluid Mechanics - Méchanique des Fluides Environnementaux written by CIGB ICOLD and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-10-28 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dams are planned, constructed, and operated to meet human needs - generation of energy, irrigated agricultural production, flood control, public and industrial supply, supply of drinking water, and various other purposes. Dams impound water in reservoirs during times of high flood that can be used for human requirements during times with inadequate natural flows. Positive impacts of dams are improved flood control, improved welfare resulting from new access to irrigation and drinking water. Without dams there would be insufficient food to feed the world’s people and energy would be generated by burning fossil fuels that produce greenhouse gases. Despite this progress there remain significant concerns about the environmental impacts of dams. These environmental impacts are complex and far reaching, remote of the dam, and may occur in time with the dam construction or later and may lead to a loss of biodiversity and of productivity of natural resources. This bulletin compiles improvements in knowledge and state of the art technology to avoid or mitigate environmental impacts of dams on the natural ecosystem as well as to the people that depend upon them for their livelihood and also addresses the mitigation of environmental impacts on dams and reservoirs.
Book Synopsis A Back and Forth between Tourism and Health by : Sebastien Fleuret
Download or read book A Back and Forth between Tourism and Health written by Sebastien Fleuret and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-09-21 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Health is an often-overlooked issue in the touristic development of territories. However, the recent pandemic linked to Covid-19, by bringing the tourism sector to a halt, has revealed the importance of health issues for this economic sector. This book deals with the interaction between tourism and health in all its facets and offers a complete overview of the subject, the beginnings of which date back to Antiquity. The arguments presented here are based on a back-and-forth approach between tourism studies and health sciences. Various themes are thus addressed, such as health risks, health issues for travellers linked to tourism practices, medical tourism, health mobility and the global processes that accompany it, as well as the impact of tourism development on public health in destinations. A Back and Forth Between Tourism and Health highlights the need to include the health dimension in tourism planning and invites a paradigm shift in thinking about the tourism sector.
