Education is the yardstick by which the growth and development of a country are delineated, and it helps to discipline the mind, sharpen the intellect and refine the spirit. There has been a phenomenal growth in the number of women enrolling in higher education in India since the country gained independence, with around 45% of female admissions to such institutions in recent years. This collection explores the role of women in higher education, their emergence as a strong force for social change, and the implications of this on society. It also discusses technology’s impact on women’s education, constraints on women in higher education, and issues and challenges for women in the workplace.

Book excerpt: This book provides intriguing insights into the development of highly qualified women leaders in diverse Indian contexts and their role at national and organizational levels. While India has made enormous economic strides in the past few decades, gender inequality and underutilization of female talent remain deeply rooted and widely spread in many parts of Indian society. This book addresses an urgent need to stop treating Indian women as under-developed human capital and begin realizing their potential as leaders of quality work. This book will fill the gap of research on international leadership for students, academics, and multinational organizations.

Book excerpt: As everyone knows, on the one hand, women in India walk shoulder to shoulder with men, whereas, on the other hand, this half of the population is struggling to get their due rights even after more than seven decades of India's independence. The Nova Publication is proud to publish this book titled "Exploring the Opportunity and Challenges of Women in India". The title of this book itself reflects its gravity and importance. The wide range of issues related to women that this book covers makes it a must-read for women, students, research scholars, academicians, politicians, competitive examination aspirants and general readers who are keenly interested in augmenting their knowledge regarding various aspects of women in the largest democracy in the world where the women are still finding it difficult to get their share of representation even after the recently concluding the 17th General Elections in the independent nation. The authors have done independent and detailed research on every aspect related to women starting from present social conditions of women to political representation, financial independence, women empowerment, challenges and opportunities in historically patriarchal society, role of women in governance, women's rights and problems being faced by both working and home-maker women.By reading this book, the readers will come to know about issues that have been left unaddressed for decades, and will then get deep insight about the present condition of half the population of India. This book will help the policy-makers and stakeholders to draw an action plan to ensure equality, social, legal and constitutional rights for women. The authors are continuously researching to bring other unaddressed issues concerning women to our readers. The Nova Publication promises that we will keep highlighting every latest development related to the rights, roles and representation of this 50% population of India in our subsequent publications until the time when 100% equality for women is achieved. The best part of the book is that the authors have written the chapters in an extremely lucid language which is easy to understand and grasp.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprises the proceedings of the TEQIP III Sponsored 2nd International Conference on “Gender Equity: Challenges and Opportunities” (2nd ICOGECAO 2020 -Virtual Mode), held at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, India, from 25 to 27 November 2020. ICOGECAO provided a platform for researchers from multiple countries to present their views about the challenges associated with gender equity. Gender equity is one of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5) set up by the United Nations in 2015, to promote and empower all genders equally. The proceedings strongly support the ideas of gender neutrality and blow out the mind-set of limiting gender studies to only women rights. They offer a collection of articles that break the stereotypes and myths often wrongly associated with gender. The ideas in the presented papers highlight gender-based discriminations, ask important questions and share facts that encompass beyond the so-called boundary lines. The authors contributed on various topics including but not limited to violence, crime, discrimination, and abuse against women and LGBTQ+ community. The basic motive of the presented book is to incorporate ideas and contribute to the sensitization and education about the important yet often neglected issues of gender equality. Thus, this book proves to be an essential resource for educators and researchers working in the field of gender studies. The work presents challenges caused due to COVID-19, social media, popular culture and work–life balance and explores empowerment through law, skills, technology and media. Some interesting case studies highlighted gender discrimination in science, sports and law. A variety of papers on literary texts were examined from a gender lens. The proceeding is divided into five subsections: 1. law, 2. literature, 3. management, 4. sociology and 5. social studies. The proceeding provides a wider perceptive and visuals about the scenarios which needs attention. The ideas presented will be helpful for achieving the sustainable development goal of gender equity to a greater extent.
