Tendo uma abordagem qualitativa, o campo de pesquisa foi o curso de Matemática da UFPE/CAA. Para a coleta de dados, foram usados questionários, entrevista semiestruturada e o Projeto Pedagógico do curso de Matemática da referida instituição. Após a coleta dos dados, foi realizada a análise de conteúdo por categorização, sinalizando que o(a) professor(a) em formação não se sente seguro para ensinar matemática a pessoas Surdas, apesar dos conhecimentos matemáticos adquiridos no curso e de ter cursado a disciplina de Libras com professores(as) fluentes na Libras. Nesse sentido, foi verificada que apenas alguns(as) graduandos(as) tiveram acesso as disciplinas eletivas direcionadas, exclusivamente, ao ensino das pessoas com deficiência, destacando-se, portanto, a necessidade de haver relação entre os conteúdos matemáticos e a Libras, devendo as demais disciplinas manter um diálogo com a temática da educação inclusiva.

O estudo envolveu uma investigação com quatro alunos com surdez grave ou profunda matriculados no Ensino Fundamental. Todos eles freqüentavam a escola investigada por mais de um ano e já haviam estudado em escola especial, antes de freqüentarem a Escola Ameduca que desenvolve a visão paradigmática inclusiva, que é objeto de estudo deste trabalho. Nesse sentido, apresentamos os processos educativos desenvolvidos pela Escola Ameduca, que reconhece e valoriza as diferenças, demonstrando a capacidade de alunos com surdez aprenderem em sala de aula do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola comum, destacando os progressos alcançados por esses alunos, por meio das práticas pedagógicas utilizadas, nas quais envolviam três momentos educacionais: o atendimento educacional especializado em Língua de Sinais, a classe comum e a Língua Portuguesa.

Trata-se deste assunto por haver considerável descompasso entre as práticas pedagógicas respaldadas pelas políticas educacionais vigentes e a realidade dos alunos surdos. Assim, na tentativa de verificar como os saberes surdos estão presentes nas aulas de língua portuguesa, a qual é uma segunda língua para os surdos, realizou-se a presente pesquisa numa Escola denominada como Pólo, pela Política de Educação de Surdos do Estado de Santa Catarina (2004), observando-se as aulas de língua portuguesa nos dois semestres de 2007. Sendo a língua portuguesa uma segunda língua para os surdos, observou-se que em nenhum momento foi levado em consideração tal fato, apesar já terem se passado três anos de implantação da Política de Educação de Surdos e das últimas mudanças não terem afetado o caráter de segunda língua da língua portuguesa para surdos, ainda não houve capacitações suficientes para os professores da rede regular de ensino e nem mesmo das Escolas escolhidas como Pólos em Educação de Surdos. Os saberes surdos que se esperava encontrar nas aulas de língua portuguesa não foram constatados, a cultura surda, o jeito visual dos surdos de apreender o conhecimento, o uso da lingüística contrastiva português-libras, não foram evidenciados e nem são conhecidos pelo professor da disciplina. Analisou-se também que há maiores dificuldades para ao ensino do português nas classes mistas (onde se misturam alunos surdos e ouvintes), devido à diferença metodológica de ensino e ao choque lingüístico (língua portuguesa nativa e estrangeira/como segunda língua). As análises demonstram que são necessários estudos mais profundos sobre o ensino da língua portuguesa a partir de uma concepção de segunda língua e levando-se em conta os saberes surdos e principalmente a língua de sinais como primeira língua. São necessárias mudanças curriculares (criação das disciplinas de língua de sinais e de língua portuguesa como segunda língua) e a desconstrução de que inclusão educacional de surdos é pôr alunos surdos e ouvintes lado a lado numa sala de aula sem atentar para como acontece a aquisição de conhecimentos de cada aluno.
