Book Synopsis The Plurality Principle by : Dave Harvey
Download or read book The Plurality Principle written by Dave Harvey and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2021-02-17 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building and Sustaining a Thriving Leadership Culture Essential to every healthy church is a biblical model of leadership. In the New Testament, church leadership is built around a team of elders working together, each bringing his own unique skills and gifts to the cause of shepherding the flock God entrusted to them. However, in many churches today the principle of plurality in leadership is often misunderstood, mistakenly applied, or completely ignored. Dave Harvey encourages church leaders to prioritize plurality for the surprising ways that it helps churches to flourish. This book not only builds a compelling case for churches to adopt and maintain biblical elder pluralities guided by solid leadership but also supplies practical tools to help elders work together for transformation. Download or read book Stand written by Marian Jordan Ellis and published by David C Cook. This book was released on 2017-08-01 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Your Darkest Moment Isn’t Your Destiny In a frightening world, it’s tempting to question the promises of God. Yet one word rings out in Scripture as a call to God’s people: stand. From Moses at the Red Sea to Jesus with His disciples, stand is the call to believe God and hold fast to His promises. In Stand, Marian Jordan Ellis explores what it looks like to be faithful in a crumbling world. She addresses questions like these: How do Christian leaders share God’s good news in a culture that wants to silence their voices? How do parents hold on to hope when their children are more in love with the world than with Jesus? How do Christians battle the voices of shame and insecurity? Stand looks at the stories of real people—from Scripture and from today—who chose to stand firm and “win life.” Jesus promises that the evil of this present world is not our future reality. Stand offers inspiration and practical tools to stand in your faith, your convictions, and your trust in a God who never fails.
Download or read book Called to Create written by Jordan Raynor and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We were created by an infinitely creative God to reflect his love and character to the world. One way we do that is by continuing his creative work. In this energizing book, serial entrepreneur and bestselling author Jordan Raynor helps artists, entrepreneurs, writers, and other creatives reimagine our work as service to God and others, addressing such penetrating questions as - Is my work as a creative really as God-honoring as that of a pastor or missionary? - What does it look like to create not to make a name for myself but to glorify God and serve others? - How can I use my work to fulfill Jesus's command to create disciples? - Will what I make today matter in eternity? To answer these questions, Raynor shares compelling stories from an eclectic group of 40+ Christian entrepreneurs, including the founders of TOMS Shoes, Charity: Water, Chick-fil-A, In-N-Out Burger, Guinness, HTC, and Sevenly, as well as nontraditional entrepreneurs such as C. S. Lewis, Johann Sebastian Bach, and J. R. R. Tolkien. Raynor's "show" rather than "tell," story-driven style makes you feel as if you are sitting at the feet of some of the godliest and most successful entrepreneurs of all time. Perfectly poised to reach today's growing creative class, this unique work restores God's position as the first entrepreneur, helping readers see the eternal value in the work they do today.

Book Synopsis Guardians: Keepers of God's Secret Code by : Donald Alexander
Download or read book Guardians: Keepers of God's Secret Code written by Donald Alexander and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theories of evolution, origin of the Universe, and deep time, have led many scientists like my former self, to conclude that Creation is just a chance sequence of events that can ultimately be explained by natural laws. I was skeptical and even tried to disprove God's existence, until I found a Secret Code embedded in the Scriptures. This code provides undeniable evidence of God, based upon event sequences in the lives of a Great Cloud of Witnesses like Joseph, Samson, David, Jonah, Elisha, Moses, and Joshua. By unlocking the Earthly Sanctuary pattern given to Moses, I've found that it reveals events of the Exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land which even applies to Spiritual Israel today. The veil to the Holy Place aligns with the Exodus opening of the Red Sea. And the veil to the Holiest Place points to the opening of the Jordan where we now stand, waiting to cross at the End of Time. The code reveals probabilities of the existence of God, far greater than finding an atom in Planet Earth by chance.

Book excerpt: Experience in the classroom at Nebraska Wesleyan and Wesleyan Universities has shown that there is need for an edition of the documents constituting the main sources of the Hexateuch. It is impossible to teach the Old Testament historically without frequent reference to J, E, and P. Students become interested in the problem and wish to read sources, only to discover that the desired documents are not available. The Sources of the Hexateuch is an attempt to supply this need by editing the documents J, E, and P according to the consensus of English, Scotch, Dutch, German, French, Swiss, and American scholarship. -- From the Preface
Book Synopsis The Book of Joshua by : Martin Sicker
Download or read book The Book of Joshua written by Martin Sicker and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of this study is the prophetic history of Joshua and the first stages of the conquest of the Promised Land, as presented in the Masoretic text of the biblical Book of Joshua. The term prophetic history is employed to describe the subject because prophecy in biblical thought is not fatalistic and does not predict future events. What it does do is assert that the moral course that a society chooses to follow in the present can determine its probable but not inevitable future. The purpose of the biblical book is to inform the reader of the historical consequences of the failure to observe the terms of the divine covenant entered into between God and the children of Israel at Mount Sinai following the exodus from Egypt. Although the narrative is based on events that were believed to have taken place, the primary focus of prophetic history is on the moral implications of the decisions taken by men rather than the factual accuracy of the details of the events described which have been studied exhaustively by archaeologists and historians of the ancient world. This study is concerned primarily with what the biblical narrative purports to tell us in its own special way, and only peripherally with the issues of primary concern to the modern academic studies of biblical texts such as when the text was finalized and by whom, literary analysis of the language employed, comparative analysis of the text and other ancient literature, and other such topics, all of which are of valid intellectual interest but, with some notable exceptions, contribute little to understanding what the authors and editors of the Hebrew text as we have it are trying to convey to the reader.
