Cette période peut s’accompagner à divers degrés d’une souffrance psychologique. Le suicide est souvent un mode d’expression de cette souffrance chez les adolescents. Deuxième cause de mortalité chez les 15-24 ans, il constitue un problème de santé publique majeur. Les travaux et les recommandations proposent des modalités de prise en charge : après une hospitalisation, un suivi adapté multidisciplinaire doit être mis en place. A partir d’une population de 47 adolescents suicidants hospitalisés à l’hôpital Saint Vincent, nous avons étudié la prise en charge proposée et le rôle de l’un des acteurs : le médecin traitant. La prise en charge hospitalière est pertinente et cadre bien avec les recommandations. Le médecin traitant est un interlocuteur privilégié de l’adolescent suicidant. Son implication dans le suivi, malgré des possibilités et un souhait franc, reste insuffisante. Le temps, le manque de formation et le défaut de communication entre les intervenants sont des facteurs qui nous sont apparus comme des freins dans la possibilité d’implication du généraliste. Une mise en commun des compétences est nécessaire ainsi qu’une amélioration des relations ville/hôpital. La formation des généralistes est également une base dans la prévention secondaire des tentatives de suicide et dans l’accompagnement des adolescents en souffrance
