Book excerpt: Immortal Trust is the third book in Claire Ashgrove's exciting series about sexy Knights Templar and the modern women they will do anything to protect. When archaeologist Chloe Broussard accepts the contract to lead a dig in Ornes, France, she has no idea she will uncover the Veil of Veronica. When she does, she discovers a danger far greater than the demonic presence stalking her at night. Azazel wants her, as well as the Veronica, and his chosen minion is her brother. Her hope lies with immortal Templar Knight Lucan. Her life depends on oaths she knows nothing about. For countless centuries, Lucan of Seacourt has lived with the knowledge that his brother killed their family. Now, as Azazel's darkness eats away at his soul, old betrayal stirs suspicion. He trusts no one. Not even the seraph who can heal his dying spirit. With the fate of the Almighty hanging in the balance, Lucan must find faith in something more terrifying than the dark lord's creations. He must learn to believe his heart.
Download or read book Immortal written by Clay Jones and published by Harvest House Publishers. This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is There Life After Death? For many, death is terrifying. We try to live as long as possible while hoping that science will soon find a way to allow us to live, if not forever, then at least a very long time. Whether we deny our mortality though literal or symbolic immortality or try to turn death into something benign, our attempts fail us. But what if the real solution is not in denying death’s reality, but in acknowledging it while enjoying a hope for a wonderful forever? Clay Jones, a professor of Christian apologetics, explores the ways people face death and how these “immortality projects” are unsuccessful, even destructive. Along the way, he points to the hope of the only true immortality available to all—the truth that God already offers a path to our hearts’ deepest longing: glorious resurrection to eternal life.

Book excerpt: Quintus Aurelius has gone by many aliases over the passing centuries. Originating from ancient Rome now to over 2100 years later he's found home in a sleepy little beach town in New Zealand. It's 1986 and the world has changed a lot, being born totally deaf the road has been a hard one to live in with little communication with people over the passing centuries. Being totally estranged from his twin brother for the past millennium he has to cope with accidentally exposing himself as the vampire he is to a human, not just any human an employee that has been working for him for the last six years. With the immortals being a constant threat to vampires and their way of life, what happens when an immortal shows up who Quintus believed was dead from a time when he was still mortal. This book is written in New Zealand English and it is written more to the way New Zealanders speak, if you have never heard a kiwi speak the lingo in this book might not make sense to you. All of my books are written like this and I like to keep with my kiwi roots, in a sense it gives the characters each a character to them that they wouldn't have if they were American. I've based it at Kaiteriteri which is my most favourite beach in the world, it has a golden coarse sand that you don't see anywhere else with the clearest blue sea.

Book Synopsis Immortality and the Law by : Ray D. Madoff
Download or read book Immortality and the Law written by Ray D. Madoff and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2010-05-11 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a riveting look at how the law responds to that distinctly American dream of immortality. While American law provides virtually no protections for the interests we hold most dear—our bodies and our reputations—when it comes to property interests, the American dead have greater control than anywhere else in the world. Moreover, these rights are growing daily. From grave robbery to Elvis impersonators, Madoff shows how the law of the dead has a direct impact on how we live. Madoff examines how the rising power of the American dead enables the deceased to exert control over their wealth forever through grandiose schemes like "dynasty trusts" and perpetual private charitable foundations and to control their creative works and identities well into the unforeseeable future. Madoff explores how the law of the dead can, in essence, extend the reach of life by granting virtual immortality to individuals. All of this comes, Madoff contends, at real costs imposed on the living.

Book Synopsis The Coming of God by : Jürgen Moltmann
Download or read book The Coming of God written by Jürgen Moltmann and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2004-07-27 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of Grawemeyer Award In this remarkable and timely work - in many ways the culmination of his systematic theology - world-renowned theologian Jurgen Moltmann stands Christian eschatology on its head. Moltmann rejects the traditional approach, which focuses on the End, an apocalyptic finale, as a kind of Christian search for the "final solution." He centers instead on hope and God's promise of new creation for all things. "Christian eschatology," he says, "is the remembered hope of the raising of the crucified Christ, so it talks about beginning afresh in the deadly end." Yet Moltmann's novel framework, deeply informed by Jewish and messianic thought, also fosters rich and creative insights into the perennially nettling questions of eschatology: Are there eternal life and personal identity after death? How is one to think of heaven, hell, and purgatory? What are the historical and cosmological dimensions of Christian hope? What are its social and political implications. In a heartbreakingly fragile and fragment world, Moltmann's comprehensive eschatology surveys the Christian vista, bravely envisioning our "horizons of expectation" for personal, social, even cosmic transformation in God.

Book excerpt: This series of brief and sparkling philosophical essays explores the Principle of Continuity as it impacts discussions of the Big Bang and the expansion of the universe, God, infinity, biological immortality and evolution. From Ancient Greece to the frontiers of modern science, some egregious blunders have been made in both philosophy and in theoretical physics. The old theory of Continuous Creation was blown up by the Big Bang theory, but the author shows that this is just another ontological quagmire that conflicts with the First Law of Thermodynamics (conservation)OCoand common sense. Surveying scientific principles, he discerns where they can and cannot illuminate our understanding."
