Das NaDiVeG brachte für Großunternehmen neue Transparenzbestimmungen und Berichtspflichten, die auch nicht-finanzielle Informationen aus den Bereichen Umwelt, Sozial- und Arbeitnehmerbelange, Menschenrechte sowie Bekämpfung von Korruption und Bestechung betreffen. Ziel war die Durchführung einer Status-quo-Erhebung und -Analyse vor Umsetzung des NaDiVeG, um Veränderungen in der Zeit nach Einführung des Gesetzes für zukünftige Erhebungen und wissenschaftliche Arbeiten mess- und vergleichbar zu machen. Gleichzeitig wurden Erkenntnisse zur Beurteilung von unternehmerischen Nachhaltigkeitsaktivitäten und zur Definition und Interpretation des Nachhaltigkeitsbegriffes im wirtschaftlichen Gesamtumfeld – bei KonsumentInnen und Führungskräften – erhoben. Diese Ergebnisse können als Diskussionsgrundlage für Wirtschaft, Politik, Nachhaltigkeits- und KommunikationsexpertInnen sowie in der Aus- und Fortbildung zu PR-, CSR- und Nachhaltigkeitsthemen herangezogen werden. Im Mai 2016 wurde dazu eine österreichweite Online-Befragung durchgeführt (N = 1.008), an der auch 352 Führungskräfte aus österreichischen Unternehmen teilnahmen. Die Erhebung zeigte u. a. auf, dass sich der Nachhaltigkeitsbegriff, der in Unternehmen und bei KonsumentInnen im Alltag zur Anwendung kommt, wesentlich vom akademischen, integrierten Nachhaltigkeitsbegriff unterscheidet. Er wird vorwiegend mit Umweltschutz in Verbindung gebracht wird, während soziale oder ökonomische Faktoren wenig Beachtung finden.

Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability, abgekürzt: LOHAS, ist ein Lebensstil, der eine äußerst enge Verbindung mit dem Streben nach Gesundheit und Nachhaltigkeit aufweist. Der Begriff Greenwashing bezeichnet eine Unternehmensstrategie, mit der durch eine gezielte Verbreitung falscher Informationen ein Image für ökologische aber auch soziale Verantwortung geschaffen werden soll, um bei den Konsumenten und vor allem bei den LOHAS einen positiven Eindruck zu hinterlassen. Greenwashing kann vor allem als eine Reaktion vieler Unternehmen auf das gestiegene öffentliche Anliegen für ökologisches Bewusstsein angesehen werden. Das gestiegene Umweltbewusstsein der Konsumenten führt dazu, dass viele Unternehmen ein grünes Image als starken Wettbewerbsfaktor sehen. Es entsteht jedoch das große Risiko, die Konsumenten vorsätzlich zu täuschen. Die Folgen können sich sogar soweit ausbreiten, dass Greenwashing das komplette Image einer ganzen Marke gefährdet, das sich bis hin zum Verbraucherboykott ausdehnt. Es wäre ein schlimmer Fehler die heutige Macht der Verbraucher, die größtenteils auf den Bereich der Social Media Vernetzung zurückzuführen ist, zu unterschätzen. Sind hier erst einmal die ersten Hebel durch verärgerte Konsumenten in Gang gesetzt worden, können sich Aktivitäten im Bereich des Greenwashing als eine echte Bedrohung für die Marke entwickeln.

Vor hundert Jahren mag es ausgereicht haben, bedrohte Lebensräume als Schutzgebiete auszuweisen. Heutzutage ist jedoch bekannt, dass gängige Ressourcen beinahe ausgeschöpft, Wasser, Luft und Boden nachhaltig verschmutzt sind, und sich sogar das Klima Veränderungen unterziehen musste. Das Thema dieser Arbeit ist und wird noch lange Jahre hochaktuell und von entscheidender Bedeutung sein und ist nicht nur für die Führungsetage großer Unternehmen interessant, sondern für ausschließlich jeden, der Teil dieser Gesellschaft ist. Book excerpt: The 31 selected and revised articles in the volume Holy Ground: Where Art and Text Meet, written by Hans Bakker between 1986 and 2016, vary from theoretical subjects to historical essays on the classical culture of India. They combine two mainstreams: the Sanskrit textual tradition, including epigraphy, and the material culture as expressed in works of religious art and iconography. The study of text and art in close combination in the actual field where they meet provides a great potential for understanding. The history of holy places is therefore one of the leitmotivs that binds these studies together. One article, "The Ramtek Inscriptions II", was co-authored by Harunaga Isaacson, two articles, on "Moksadharma 187 and 239–241" and "The Quest for the Pasupata Weapon," by Peter C. Bisschop.
