Download or read book Self-Building written by Ayatollah Ibrahim Amini and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-02-20 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals about the Islamic Gnosticism and present a comprehensive narrative about the Theoretical Gnosticism (Irfan-e-Nazari). In accordance with Islamic Ideology the most exalted aim of God and his divinely appointed prophets is the training and guidance of human being in their spiritual journey from earthly temporary abode towards the eternal Gods Celestial-Kingdom. The main contents of the book as mentioned earlier are the etiquette and instructions of Gnostic journey, ways and manners of servitude, detailed descriptions of deeds and worships that must be performed by a wayfarer, and what sort of behaviors and restrictions they must practice in order to attain the desired results. The book consists of preface and three parts covering the following topics: Self-purification, Human Virtues, What to be?, Heart in Qur'an, Hard-heartedness, Self-refinement, Self-struggle, Egotism, Worldliness, Piety, Characteristics of the Pious, Repentance or Self-Cleansing, Training and Perfection of Self, Faith, Means of Achieving Perfection and Gods Nearness, Invocations, Instructions, Obstacles of the Path, Nourishment of Moral Virtues, Righteous Deeds etc. The most prevalent misunderstanding about Islamic Mysticism which must be clarified is that relinquishment of worldly involvement, seclusion, and monasticism are not prerequisites for undertaking a spiritual migration towards God-Almighty; on the contrary, as it would be shown in the later part of this book, Islam demands from its followers that while living among the people a normal social life discharging the individual and collective obligations, they shouldnt be negligent of their own selves and must pay special attention towards their spiritual purification.

Download or read book The Tree of Love written by Fode Drame and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-04-23 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "God created Adam in the image of the All-Merciful." (Muslim) The amount of worship we offer as an expression of our devotion has its limitations. God may love our worship, but this love ends when our worship ends. This is because worship consists of actions, which are time bound. Yet character, on the other hand, is timeless. This Expansions volume explores the direct link between character and God's all-encompassing quality of mercy, shedding light on what it truly means to reach the image of the All-Merciful.

Book Synopsis The Book of Light by : Lucille Clifton
Download or read book The Book of Light written by Lucille Clifton and published by Copper Canyon Press. This book was released on 2023-08-29 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a powerful introduction by Ross Gay and a moving afterword by Sidney Clifton, this special anniversary edition of The Book of Light offers new meditations and insights on one of the most beloved voices of the 20th century. Though The Book of Light opens with thirty-nine names for light, we soon learn the most meaningful name is Lucille—daughter, mother, proud Black woman. Known for her ability to convey multitudes in few words, Clifton writes into the shadows—her father’s violations, a Black neighborhood bombed, death, loss—all while illuminating the full spectrum of human emotion: grief and celebration, anger and joy, empowerment and so much grace. A meeting place of myth and the Divine, The Book of Light exists “between starshine and clay” as Clifton’s personas allow us to bear the world’s weight with Atlas and witness conversations between Lucifer and God. While names and dates mark this text as a social commentary responding to her time, it is haunting how easily this collection serves as a political palimpsest of today. We leave these poems inspired—Clifton shows us Superman is not our hero. Our hero is the Black female narrator who decides to live. And what a life she creates! “Won’t you celebrate with me?”

This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contributors to Embodying Black Religions in Africa and Its Diasporas investigate the complex intersections between the body, religious expression, and the construction and transformation of social relationships and political and economic power. Among other topics, the essays examine the dynamics of religious and racial identity among Brazilian Neo-Pentecostals; the significance of cloth coverings in Islamic practice in northern Nigeria; the ethics of socially engaged hip-hop lyrics by Black Muslim artists in Britain; ritual dance performances among Mama Tchamba devotees in Togo; and how Ifá practitioners from Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Trinidad, and the United States join together in a shared spiritual ethnicity. From possession and spirit-induced trembling to dance, the contributors outline how embodied religious practices are central to expressing and shaping interiority and spiritual lives, national and ethnic belonging, ways of knowing and techniques of healing, and sexual and gender politics. In this way, the body is a crucial site of religiously motivated social action for people of African descent. Contributors. Rachel Cantave, Youssef Carter, N. Book Synopsis The Book of Divine Works by : St. Hildegard of Bingen
Download or read book The Book of Divine Works written by St. Hildegard of Bingen and published by Catholic University of America Press. This book was released on 2018-10-16 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Completed in 1173, The Book of Divine Works (Liber Divinorum Operum) is the culmination of the Visionary’s Doctor’s theological project, offered here for the first time in a complete and scholarly English translation. The first part explores the intricate physical and spiritual relationships between the cosmos and the human person, with the famous image of the universal Man standing astride the cosmic spheres. The second part examines the rewards for virtue and the punishments for vice, mapped onto a geography of purgatory, hellmouth, and the road to the heavenly city. At the end of each Hildegard writes extensive commentaries on the Prologue to John’s Gospel (Part 1) and the first chapter of Genesis (Part 2)—the only premodern woman to have done so. Finally, the third part tells the history of salvation, imagined as the City of God standing next to the mountain of God’s foreknowledge, with Divine Love reigning over all.
