Le vicende più note della sua vita ci appaiono lette da un occhio volto verso l’interno, in una forma narrativa che ribalta i canoni agiografici facendo di questo libro non solo un documento storico e devozionale, ma un capolavoro della letteratura autobiografica. Pagina dopo pagina, si rivela l’eccezionale complessità di una figura in cui si uniscono il visionario e il tattico, il politico e l’estatico: un Pellegrino, votato a seguire fino in fondo un percorso già tracciato.
