For me, it's not about what disaster befalls you, no sir! It's how you look at life overall. I attempt to find the lighter side of all situations, be it ever so inappropriate. (And boy howdy, have I had some situations to wade through!) Whether it be cancer (not me, him), kids (middle schoolers are the worst--you know what I'm talking bout here!), marriage (thar she blows), spouses, work, friends and enemies, pets, pandemics be damned; lions and tiger and bears! Oh my! Life is messy! If Necessity Is the Mother of Invention, Who's Your Daddy? takes a look at the lighter side of some real-life screwups. Have you ever thought about purchasing a handgun and then peed yourself on your maiden voyage to the gun range? Maybe you have chased down a stolen car--your own car? Perhaps, you are familiar with grandsons and their lovies? Have you ever been kidnapped? (Well, me neither, but I have a plan formulated in my mind should it ever occur.) Have ya got baggage? (Not the kind you carefully pack and then watch from the window as it is kicked, dragged, and heaved into the belly of a jumbo jet where it will be tossed end over end like a spring mix salad for hours, then scuffed, slammed, and crushed under the weight of hundreds of other bags while being driven across the tarmac in a downpour to an awaiting conveyor belt to hell.) I have a steamer trunk full! They say that laughter is the best medicine? Well, I have no idea who they are, but I am pretty sure they are closely related to everybody else's and nobody else's mom--just saying!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Don’t miss a page of the thrilling Naturals series by New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Lynn Barnes—this collection of four books includes a bonus e-novella! In The Naturals, seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But, it's not a skill that she's ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they've begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie. But what Cassie doesn't realize is that there's more at risk than a few unsolved homicides--especially when she's sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms close. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive. In Killer Instinct, Cassie hopes she and the rest of her team can stick to solving cold cases from a distance after barely escaping a confrontation with an unbalanced killer obsessed with her mother's murder. But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that strikes too close to home: the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean's incarcerated father--a man he'd do anything to forget. Forced deeper into a murderer's psyche than ever before, will the Naturals be able to outsmart the enigmatic killer's brutal mind games before this copycat twists them into his web for good? In All In, Cassie and the Naturals are called in to investigate a string of brutal murders in Las Vegas. But even with the team's unique profiling talents, these murders seem baffling: unlike many serial killers, this one uses different methods every time. All of the victims were killed in public, yet the killer does not show up on any security feed. And each victim has a string of numbers tattooed on their wrist. Hidden in the numbers is a code-and the closer the Naturals come to unraveling the mystery, the more perilous the case becomes. In Bad Blood, Cassie is reeling with the truth about her mother’s murder. Everything Cassie thought she knew about what happened that night her mother was killed been called into question. Her mother is alive, and the people holding her captive are more powerful--and dangerous--than anything the Naturals have faced so far. As Cassie and the team work to uncover the secrets of a group that has been killing in secret for generations, they find themselves racing a ticking clock. And when the bodies begin piling up, it soon becomes apparent that this time, the Naturals aren't just hunting serial killers. They're being hunted. In the novella Twelve, Cassie is now twenty-three years old, and she and her fellow Naturals have taken over running the program that taught them everything they know. As a unit, they're responsible for identifying new Naturals--and solving particularly impossible cases. When their latest case brings back a ghost from their past, Cassie and the other Naturals find themselves racing against the clock--and reliving their own childhood traumas. In a small, coastal town in Maine, there has been a rash of teen suicides--or at least, that's what the police believe. Enter the Naturals.

Book excerpt: Ben and his sisters had no idea that two teenagers trespassed onto their property. The intruders were mesmerized when they saw Bens younger sister ordering the birds and ducks to fly her to the pond. These flying creatures grabbed her clothes with their beaks and bills and elevated her high up in the air. Could this place be haunted? the teens wondered. How do the children get these animals to obey them? How was this girl able to get the birds and ducks to lift her up into the air and fly away with her? After having sworn the children to secrecy, Uncle Dave showed them his underground laboratories. He explained how snow, rain, and hail are formed. The siblings had fun playing in the labs. They made snow people in the Snow Lab and they experienced zero gravity in the Zero Gravity Lab. The intruders discovered the secret labs and managed to sneak in. They almost froze in the Snow Lab and nearly drowned when a storm developed in the Ocean Lab. Why is there snow, a beach, an ocean, and a real tropical rain forest in Uncle Daves basement? The answer to these questions, plus many educational and moral lessons can all be discovered in this unique place called Magic Farm.

Book excerpt: Taking the Land This book, the 5th in the series, is about overcoming or taking the Land. Every now and again it's good to get back to basics. On the one hand we've got our legal standing (us in Christ), and on the other our literal state (Christ in us). When we claim our legal standing - "Us in Christ," we are hidden. We are in Christ. When God looks at us, He only sees Jesus. This is our legal standing, us in Christ, and it is declared in the Word of God (a done deal) and we accept it by faith and need to stand on it. Because we are in Christ we are justified. We are now acquitted and declared righteous before God. This has nothing to do with us or anything we can do in our own strength. Our justification comes only by the grace of God - we cannot earn it. Our literal state, Christ in us, is the second side of the salvation coin, the born again experience. New life is imparted at regeneration and as we yield and submit ourselves to Christ's Spirit in us we are changed more and more into His image. Confusion often comes, however, when these two important truths - our legal standing and our literal State - are transposed or used incorrectly. If they are we may very well experience condemnation and leave strife and confusion everywhere we go. Our approach to God is based on our right standing (our hidden state) not on our literal state. Conversely, our approach to our neighbour is based on our literal state (not our hidden state). Hopefuly our neighbour will see Christ in us (the fruit of the Spirit), but also he might see the (warts and all) other side of us too. Taking the Land is intended to both inform and encourage.
