Book Synopsis Laser Material Processing by : William Steen
Download or read book Laser Material Processing written by William Steen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laser Material Processing (2nd ed) by William M Steen is an updated and expanded version of the original which sold very well with reprints in 1994 and 1996. This new edition includes a whole extra chapter - Rapid Prototyping and Low Volume Manufacture - and updates other sections such as those dealing with types of industrial lasers and new applications, and recent developments in Surface Treatment and In-Process Sensing. It comprises some addtional 60-80 pages whilst retaining the value of the original edition. It provides the reader with an understanding of laser process mechanisms, methods of application, automation and In-Process Sensing and industrial potential. The use of Patrick Wright's humorous cartoons and the many diagrams and tables to illustrate points make it a very useful and lively reference guide for students at all stages. Since laser technology is a rapidly changing field this new updated and expanded version will be particularly topical.

Book Synopsis Laser Applications for Mechanical Industry by : S. Martellucci
Download or read book Laser Applications for Mechanical Industry written by S. Martellucci and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern manufacturing industry is focusing its interests on the potential offered by the laser, in combination with other new technologies such as optical fibres, automation, computing and flexible manufacturing systems, to give new and powerful methods for non-destructive testing, in-process quality assurance, laser material processing and process control, and laser robotics. The greatest opportunities for the laser are in those areas where flexibility, automation, CAD/CAM integration, precision, cost reduction, and time to market are important factors. The examples covered here are mainly drawn from the automotive industry, where all these factors are imperative, and where the CO2, Nd-YAG and excimer laser sources are already making their contribution to the manufacturing process.
Book Synopsis Developments in Laser Techniques and Applications to Fluid Mechanics by : R.J. Adrian
Download or read book Developments in Laser Techniques and Applications to Fluid Mechanics written by R.J. Adrian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume comprises a selection of the best papers presented at the Seventh Interna tional Symposium on Applications of Laser Techniques to Fluid Mechanics held at The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, during the period of July 11 to 14,1994. The papers describe Applications to Fluid Mechanics, Applications to Combustion, Instrumentation for Velocity and Size Measurements and Instrumentation for Whole Field Velocity and demonstrate the continuing and healthy interest in the development of understanding of the methodology and implementation in terms of new instru mentation. The prime objective of this Seventh Symposium was to provide a forum for the presen tation of the most advanced research on laser techniques for flow measurements, and communicate significant results to fluid mechanics. The applications oflaser techniques to scientific and engineering fluid flow research was emphasized, but contributions to the theory and practice of laser methods were also considered where they facilitate new improved fluid mechanic research. Attention was placed on laser-Doppler anemometry, particle sizing and other methods for the measurement of velocity and scalar, such as particle image velocimetry and laser induced fluorescence. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who participated. The assistance provided by the Advisory Committee, by assessing abstracts was highly appreciated.
