This trailblazer, educator, civic leader and Christian describes his relationship to the Mexican people and culture, and shares real stories from his travels. Fifteen short stories are brought to life, narrated by Manual himself, ranging from his adventures growing up on tribal Totonac land, to the building of an indigenous school, to his personal spiritual and educational journeys. These tales are informative and cautionary, filled with lessons on Christian values, community building, personal growth, education and authentic leadership. Manuel knew the best way to bring value to his people was through education and a faith in Jesus Christ. Follow Manual's travels, thoughts and stories as he takes us through his life explorations as an evangelical leader, educator and Indian. ""Although we were here first, we know that God put us all here together, and it is my hope that we can learn to live together in harmony and love."" - Manuel Arenas

Join pastor and bestselling author Charles Swindoll as he explores the life and legacy of Moses, a man of selfless dedication. In Great Lives: Moses, the fourth book in his bestselling Great Lives series, Swindoll teaches us that our decision to go forward in life instead of retreating will be bolstered by studying the astonishing story of Moses. Swindoll gives us the facts based squarely on the truth revealed in God's Word. He also fills in the fine-line details of Moses' life with emotion and feeling, because Moses, like all of us, was a human being with faults and frailties. And finally, Swindoll helps us apply the lessons of Moses' life to our own daily dilemmas. From the Moses who tried to decline his assignment from God to the Moses who received the Ten Commandments, Swindoll shares his journey in a new light, inspiring you to: Find strength and confidence in God's power Embrace failure with grace Become a servant leader in your own life Come along with Swindoll as he invites you to travel far back to another place in another era--allowing us to focus our attention on one man's life, clinging closely to his side. Hopefully, as a result, our lives will never again be the same.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Prophet Moses, whose life is depicted in a variety of paintings, icons, movies, and other forms of art, is one of the most famous biblical figures. However, these types of portrayals tend to draw exclusively on biblical narratives. This book attempts to create a three-dimensional structure of the biblical narrative in order to uncover the global and historical significance of this remarkable human being, as well as the blessed fruits of his labor and wisdom, which were passed down not only to the Israeli people, but to all of humankind. We shall embark upon a journey to ancient times in order to feel the zeitgeist of Moses’ day, learn about God and the fellowship of His chosen people, and come to know the miracles and wonderful gifts that He has bestowed upon us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend" (Exod. 33:11). In the book of Exodus, God provides instructions in the Ten Commandments, sacrifices, the building of the tabernacle, and many other topics. In these conversations, God is giving Moses direction. Moses had forty years in the wilderness speaking with God. Apart from the directives, what might these friendly conversations be? Perhaps they were of a nature similar to those questions and discussions we might have with a friend about our faith. In the years I've had reading the Bible and in communion with others, many friends have asked me questions and I've asked God many questions as well, such as, "If God were so loving, why does he allow so much suffering in the world?" or "Why do bad things happen to good people?" Rather than search scripture to seek answers, many dismiss the faith. Indeed, we are told that scripture holds the answers to many of our questions but there is no index in the Bible where we can look up our questions. Rather, it is in the study and knowledge of God gained from daily reading and meditation that we can truly find answers. This book is intended to serve several purposes. The first is to illustrate that truly, the Bible is the source for answers to our questions and to show how it can be used. Secondly, many Christians have little knowledge of the Old Testament so taking the questions from the viewpoint of Moses exposes us to the life at that time but also illustrates the many rich traditions and meanings referenced in the New Testament. Third, Moses is a pillar of the faith and worthy of study on his own because he was a unique and blessed person.
