Boltz (Palmer) I Have Five Beautiful Daughters is the story of five girls being raised by alcoholic parents. Girls who were unwanted and neglected and left to fend for themselves. Girls who suffered extreme verbal abuse and often faced life-threatening dangers. It is the author’s hope that readers will realize the significance of prayers spoken over those they may suspect are living under questionable circumstances and yet feel helpless to intervene. And for the readers who have also endured a harsh childhood, may they not inflict that same abuse upon their own children.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mufaro was a happy man. Everyone agreed that his two daughters were very beautiful. Nyasha was kind and considerate as well as beautiful, but everyone -- except Mufaro -- knew that Manyara was selfish, badtempered, and spoiled. When the king decided to take a wife and invited "The Most Worthy and Beautiful Daughters in the Land" to appear before him, Mufaro declared proudly that only the king could choose between Nyasha and Manyara. Manyara, of course, didn't agree, and set out to make certain that she would be chosen. John Steptoe has created a memorable modem fable of pride going before a fall, in keeping with the moral of the folktale that was his inspiration. He has illustrated it with stunning paintings that glow with the beauty, warmth, and internal vision of the land and people of his ancestors.

(Publishers Weekly). Why are most neurosurgeons male and most kindergarten teachers female? Why aren?t there more women on death row? Why do so many male politicians ruin their careers with sex scandals? Why and how do we really fall in love? This engaging book uses the latest research from the field of evolutionary psychology to shed light on why we do the things we do?from life plans to everyday decisions. With a healthy disregard for political correctness, Miller and Kanazawa reexamine the fact that our brains and bodies are hardwired to carry out an evolutionary mission? an inescapable human nature that actually stopped evolving about 10,000 years ago.

By chance, she learns that the machine devours human souls for fuel, and yet no one believes her claim. Sibilia, fifteen, has fallen in love for the first time in her life. She couldn't care less about the unrests spreading through the countryside. Or the rumors about the gagargi and his machine. Frank Baum world....Here is a work that manages to be at the same time (and often in the same sentence) dark and deep and fun.”—The Washington Post Book World

Soon, in spite of all precautions, Aurora is struggling not to slip into an enchanted sleep. Frantic, the princesses accept the help of a young fisherman named Symon and embark on a daring ocean voyage to find their aunt—a fairy who may be able to break the spell. I have three wonderful brothers and seven beautiful sisters. I was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on March 3, 1967. I moved to Columbia, South Carolina, in 2003, and I been here ever since. I am the proud father of eight children; I have five beautiful daughters and three very handsome sons. I have two failed marriages, and I have seen a lot of pain in my years, so through all my pain, I gave birth to this book. It is dedicated to the woman I have been looking for all my life. I am in love with you, but I don’t know who you are, but I do know we share the same heart. If you happen to find me through this book, then you will find us, and some of the poems are for all those who are going through a rough time in their life and relationships—those who really want to be loved and give their love to that special someone. But people like us must beware that we are light, and those who lurk in the shadows of darkness seek to destroy our hearts and everything that’s good. I have been in two bad relationships and have seen the darkest side of life. That was so devastating to me, but I never let it destroy the man I am. Instead, I just put words to my pain (and yours) and all the things I see in this world. So I am a voice, expressing for you and me. My heart is still full of love, and I am waiting patiently for the one I can give my all to. So I hope this book of love letters to you finds you, and you find us.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Holbrook, one of the heroes of this book, once told me that he had mused his way to the conclusion that a school is to a community what the skin is to a body. “You see the rash on your arms and you might think that it’s the skin that’s sick, when actually the disease is somewhere deep inside, and it is only reflected in the skin. Or, conversely, when the skin is silky smooth - soft, and supple, and pleasant to the touch - it’s because the entire inside of the body is healthy.” It has just occurred to me that I have written a book to illustrate what John said. I must confess that at times, in order to better move the story along, two or three real-life persons have been shoved into one, or one person has been split up into two. Chronology has not been always rigorously followed, either, and real lives have been twisted to allow the sap of fiction to better flow to the heart and mind of the reader. Wait. Did I say fiction? I’ll take that back. For this is not a fictional book. The stories, all of them, without any exception, the stories, they are true. And if they sometimes seem far-fetched it’s only because many times reality is stranger than fiction - and also more pitiless, and more brutal. I have kept some of the original quizzes, essays, newspaper articles and classroom drawings to give the book its well-deserved air of authenticity. If you are a teacher, you will read the book and nod in agreement. If you are a parent, now you know – a teacher’s life is not the bowl of cherries you always thought it was. If you are a principal, or a superintendent, you will naturally want to burn the book in the public square - this book is a mirror and you will not like what you see. Some of the real names of the characters have been maintained: Marina Argueta, Elizabeth Ramirez, Franklin Sosa, Jose Alberto Ochoa and the rest of the Ochoa clan, Hector Mandujano, aka Camarón, and most of the soccer players on the KCHS varsity team have given me kind permission to use their real-life names. Only one character in the entire book is completely fabricated, and I will allow you, the reader, the investigative pleasure of discovering who that character is on your own. If you like the book, please recommend it to your friends, to that nasty brother-in-law of yours who gets drunk on Thanksgiving, to the guy sitting next to you in the carpool, or to your fellow teacher in the teacher’s lounge. But don’t lend it to him. Let him buy his own copy. You see, I live off the books I sell. Author :Saileanu, Cristian

The Piano Man wanders into this life enticed by the carefree youngest daughter June, but destined to marry the eldest sister according to the blacksmiths plan. Junes desire to change these plans leads the proud family down a path that could destroy everything the blacksmith has worked for. A heart wrenching tale of an autocratic fathers attempt to control the lives of his five daughters and in the process re-invent his sense of self. . .Minnette Coleman, in lyrical fashion, paints a downward spiral of envy. The Blacksmiths Daughter is a singular tale of love and longing but also one of redemption told through the voice of a poet. - Grace F. Edwards author, The Mali Anderson Mysteries The really masterly aspect of this book, beyond its authentic voice, its entirely credible characters and its compelling situations delivered in hypnotically cadenced prose, is the way it twists and turns you as to how you react to the behavior and values of the blacksmith himself. - Tim Roux author- The Dance of the Pheasodile (Night Publishing) An untold historical narrative of dedication to self-sufficiency and advanced education is interlaced within this imaginative love story focusing on family and community. Crisp, vibrant poetic imagery colors the dialogue about the big brown blacksmith and his world of the1920s in Atlanta.
