Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FROM USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR ELIZA WATSON! Book 1: Flying by the Seat of My Knickers Why run from your troubles when you can fly instead? When Caity Shaw is fired from her first job that doesn’t require an elf uniform, her older sister, Rachel, an event planner, hires her to work a meeting in Dublin. Caity jumps at the opportunity to travel abroad and escape her pathetic life. However, even four thousand miles from home, there’s no avoiding debt collectors, an overbearing mother, and haunting memories of a controlling ex. While in Dublin, Caity suffers a series of humiliating mishaps, causing her to lose even more faith in herself. Caity struggles to earn Rachel’s respect—and to keep Declan, her hot Irish coworker, at arm’s length. Declan repeatedly saves Caity’s butt and helps boost her self-confidence, making it difficult to keep her distance from the charming womanizer. When Declan helps her research her Irish grandmother, Caity discovers the mysterious past of the courageous woman she barely knew might hold the answers to her future. Book 2: Up the Seine Without a Paddle What do you do when the City of Love doesn’t love you? Caity Shaw takes on Paris and her next event planner job with a bit more confidence—which is immediately shot down when she’s forced to take responsibility for a six-year-old brat. They’re kicked out of a famous museum, and she goes from being a glamorous event planner—for a funeral directors’ group—to a reluctant au pair. Just what she doesn’t need as she struggles to regain self-esteem whittled away by an emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend. Declan, Caity’s hot Irish coworker, helps her maintain her sanity and sense of humor when she is repeatedly thrown out of places in Paris. He also perpetuates her facade as an experienced planner, a goal she’ll never achieve if she’s spending her days at puppet shows. Caity and Declan spend evenings exploring Paris and researching her Irish grandmother’s mysterious past, uncovering secrets that could tear Caity’s family apart. Declan reveals his own secret, which might bring Caity and him closer, despite her attempts to keep an emotional distance from the charming womanizer. However, the only way to help Declan open up and heal might be to confide in him about her past. Caity finally has faith in herself—can she learn to have faith that others won’t judge her mistakes? *This series is best when read in order. Book 3: My Christmas Goose Is Almost Cooked What do you do when your Christmas goes from white to blue? Despite a few setbacks, Caity Shaw’s future no longer looks as emotionally and financially bleak as it did a few months ago. Rather than working as an elf this holiday season, she is the head photographer for a group event in Dublin. Not only is Caity mending family ties, she’s learning to trust men again, thanks to her hot Irish coworker, Declan. That is, until Declan and Caity visit rural Ireland and their relationship comes to a crossroads. Declan’s family welcomes Caity into their home with open arms, but they are tight-lipped when it comes to sharing memories that could send Declan running from his past—just when Caity is learning to face hers. However, facing her grandmother’s mysterious past is a different story. With the help of her quirky Irish rellies and a local historian, Caity uncovers secrets about her grandmother that may cause her family ties to unravel once again. When Caity experiences her biggest mishap to date, everyone is forced to face their pasts and nobody’s life will be the same.

Aided by three trusted deputies, two of the old school and one from the new school of law enforcement, King slowly and methodically follows some long forgotten and buried clues, buried under money, power and politics, to try to solve his problems. And along the way, King finds something more, he finds himself!

Yaldezian Laurel Falls, N.C. 1994: I would never have risked so much if it hadn’t been for that kid. Astrid Holt, a force of nature. She brightened things at Coburn’s General Store every time she stopped by for recipe ideas—at eight years old! (That should tell you something about what was going on in her household.) So when Astrid’s mother disappeared—lost in the woods? kidnapped? murdered?—how could I turn my back on her? My friend Abit Bradshaw and I joined the search. It started close to home in our small town of Laurel Falls, then extended farther into the mountains of North Carolina. When that failed to turn up clues, the investigation reached the streets of Washington, D.C., my old stomping grounds. Abit and I often asked ourselves if we would ever get to the bottom of all their secrets and lies. Given how broken their family was, we also wondered if we should even try. As it turned out, we weren’t dealing with just the Holt’s troubles. The tragic stories that unfolded cast a shadow over our own splintered families. Abit worried if he’d ever find someone faithful and true, and I wondered if I could hold on to what I had. ~Della Kincaid You'll enjoy this suspenseful mystery because who doesn't yearn to see wrongs righted? If you love Jacqueline Winspear, Sue Grafton, and Cheryl Bradshaw (no relation to Abit Bradshaw that we know of), you're sure to enjoy the Appalachian Mountain Mysteries series. Get it now—for the rich natural setting, colorful characters, and suspenseful investigations. Welcome the Little Children is the third novel in the Appalachian Mountain Mysteries series by award-winning author Lynda McDaniel. Interview with the Author Q: What's important about this third book? A: Abit is a grown man, gaining success in both his woodworking and bluegrass music. And yet he hasn't lost his tender heart and wonder about life. Della faces some hard decisions, especially about how to best help her young friend, Astrid. And, of course, she's there for Abit. Their friendship is the backbone of all the Appalachian Mountain Mysteries. "So fun to watch the characters develop and watch Abit find and truly fulfill himself. I highly recommend all books in this series." --Cynthia Williams Q: What's different about this book? A: Both Della and Abit spend time in Washington, D.C. as well as the small town of Laurel Falls, N.C. Della calls on all her former skills as an investigative journalist. Abit goes to many of my favorite places in D.C. As much as my life was shaped by my years in the mountains of N.C., it was polished while I lived in D.C. Q: Any new characters in Welcome the Little Children? A. Astrid Holt is a favorite. She's such a colorful little 8-year-old, strong and full of beans. The mother/children drama is particularly poignant to me. I got the idea for her character from a neighbor who told lively stories from her youth. That's what writers do--we're like magpies and steal shiny morsels we take back to our writing space. When Astrid's mother goes missing, Della takes it on as a personal mission to find her--one way or another. "I really loved this book, as I have all the books in the Appalachian Mountain Mysteries. ... I have such a vivid picture of the people and places in these books, it's hard to believe they don't really exist." --Malena E. Q: In what order were these books written? A: Life for a Life The Roads to Damascus Welcome the Little Children Murder Ballad Blues Deep in the Forest Up the Creek Unwrapped After Dusk Waiting for You (free prequel novelette)

So I packed up and moved to Laurel Falls, N.C. Peace and quiet—until I found the body. The sheriff called it a suicide. No way. Trouble was, without my usual sources, how much of an investigation could I pull off? But my neighbor Abit Bradshaw and I teamed up and cooked up a plan to solve that crime. Of course plans rarely pan out the way you think. ~Della Kincaid THE ROADS TO DAMASCUS #2 "I absolutely devoured this book! " ~Cynthia Williams Laurel Falls, N.C. 1989: I couldn’t believe I was in trouble again. I’d finally got what I’d always wanted—return to school—then lost it. At first we thought it was just one tragedy, but by the third murder, the FBI finally got involved. Trouble is, I know they’re looking in all the wrong places. Della Kincaid is helping, and we can only hope the FBI will listen to us … before the culprits strike again. ~Abit Bradshaw DEEP IN THE FOREST #5 “Deserves a spot in any mystery collection.” ~Midwest Book Review Hampshire, England, 2006: I should've known not to visit Nigel Steadman; trouble followed him closer than his shadow. He roped me into doing some undercover work, and next thing I knew gunslingers, kidnappers, and thieves highjacked my vacation and turned it into a nightmare. Now I’m in a makeshift jail, and it feels like I’ll never see Fiona and the boys again. ~Abit Bradshaw UP THE CREEK #6 “FIVE STARS. Lynda McDaniel writes magical stories. She brings out the very best in her characters.” ~Joyce Davis Laurel Falls, N.C., 2009: Life on the farm was pretty much one day the same as the next—until that stranger showed up. I figured that big gash on the back is what stole his memory. But how did he get that wound? And who was after him? It wasn’t ‘til Della Kincaid put her crime-reporter skills to work that we got to the bottom of everything. And I do mean bottom. Book excerpt: The regimental system has been the foundation of the British army for three hundred years. This iconoclastic study shows how it was refashioned in the late nineteenth century, and how it was subsequently and repeatedly reinvented to suit the changing roles that were forced upon the army. Based upon a combination of official papers, private papers and personal reminiscences, and upon research in the National Archives, regimental museums and collections, and other depositories, this book challenges the assumptions of both the exponents and detractors of the system. The author, David French, shows that there was not one, but several, regimental systems and he demonstrates that localised recruiting was usually a failure. Many regiments were never able to draw more than a small proportion of their recruits from their own districts. He shows that regimental loyalties were not a primordial force; regimental authorities had to create them and in the late nineteenth century they manufactured new traditions with gusto, whilst in both World Wars regimental postings quickly broke down and regiments had to take recruits from wherever they could find them. French also argues that the notion that the British army was bad at fighting big battles because the regimental system created a parochial military culture is facile. This is the first book to strip away the myths that have been deliberately manufactured to justify or to condemn the regimental system and to uncover the reality beneath them. It thus illuminates our understanding of the past while simultaneously throwing glaring new light on the still continuing debate over the place of the regimental system in the modern army today.

Book excerpt: An eleven-year-old boy on a quest to impress his suddenly cute, longtime friend accidentally manifests a tiny internet guru into existence in this hilarious MAX novel! All class clown Farley Andrew Turner (yes, that spells FAT) wanted the summer before seventh grade was to give his image a little boost…and maybe, just maybe, impress his oldest pal, whom he has a secret crush on. But when Farley accidentally manifests a tiny internet guru into existence (think genie, but far more annoying and without any ability whatsoever to grant wishes), his entire plan goes sideways. Now, in order to rid himself of the four-inch tall pest spouting ridiculous self-help advice and doing yoga on his mouse pad, Farley must complete all “Seven Steps to a Whole New You!”—no matter how embarrassing they may be. Which is how Farley finds himself outfitted in too-small spandex and suffering through daily jogs with his super-athletic dad, attempting to read War and Peace, and agreeing to play toy guitar in his best friend Burt’s newly formed off-pitch boy band. Unfortunately, it only goes downhill from there… But hey, no one ever claimed the path to enlightenment would be easy, did they?
