Book Synopsis Hydromagnetic Ionizing Waves by : Allen G. Rubin
Download or read book Hydromagnetic Ionizing Waves written by Allen G. Rubin and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theory of hydromagnetic ionizing waves has been developed which is valid in the region in which gas pressure is negligible, compared with magnetic pressure. The theory takes into account the energy expended in partial ionization of the gas behind the wave. The usual high conductivity boundary condition behind the wave is not employed. The electric field in front of the wave is taken as a parameter. Results of this theory are compared with available experimental measurements, and show good agreement. (Author).
Book Synopsis Effects of Partial Ionization and Pressure on Hydromagnetic Ionizing Waves by : Ram S. Kushwaha
Download or read book Effects of Partial Ionization and Pressure on Hydromagnetic Ionizing Waves written by Ram S. Kushwaha and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The transverse hydromagnetic ionizing wave is studied theoretically without the assumption of infinite conductivity behind the wave. Finite gas pressures are included, as well as a variable degree of ionization behind the wave. The electric field in front of the wave is employed as a parameter. Jump conditions across the wave are solved. It is shown that finite pressure and variation of the degree of ionization are important in some regions. (Author).
Book Synopsis Hydromagnetic Waves in the Magnetosphere and the Ionosphere by : Leonid S. Alperovich
Download or read book Hydromagnetic Waves in the Magnetosphere and the Ionosphere written by Leonid S. Alperovich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-12-05 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is a fascinating text that integrates topics pertaining to all scales of the MHD-waves, emphasizing the linkages between the ULF-waves below the ionosphere on the ground and magnetospheric MHD-waves. It will be most helpful to graduate and post-graduate students, familiar with advanced calculus, who study the science of MHD-waves in the magnetosphere and ionosphere. The book deals with Ultra-Low-Frequency (ULF)-electromagnetic waves observed on the Earth and in Space.

Book Synopsis Electrophoretic Power Generation in Thermally Ionized Plasmas by : C. C. Leiby (Jr.)
Download or read book Electrophoretic Power Generation in Thermally Ionized Plasmas written by C. C. Leiby (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Druyvesteyn's solutions for electrophoretically induced gas flows in electrical discharges in gases were extended over a larger pressure range and corrected for the influence of Debye shielding effects. The effects of molecular or 'slip' flow were also taken into account. These more accurate and general solutions were applied to the reverse phenomenon of space charge field generation arising from the flow of a thermally ionized cesium plasma through a tube. Under such flow conditions, a non-linear differential equation for the axial pressure distribution was obtained but not solved. However, it was possible to obtain estimates of the ranges of cesium pressure, temperature and tube radii which would be required for sensible levels of electric power generation. Anaphoretic flow power levels of the order of 0.1 to 10 watts, in tubes of laboratory dimensions (radii of 10 cm or less), appear feasible at temperatures from 1700 to 2400K. Sensible power generation levels at lower temperatures require very large diameter tubes, and therefore are not feasible. (Author).
