This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In view of better results expected from examination of medical datasets (images) with hybrid (integration of thresholding and segmentation) image processing methods, this work focuses on implementation of possible hybrid image examination techniques for medical images. It describes various image thresholding and segmentation methods which are essential for the development of such a hybrid processing tool. Further, this book presents the essential details, such as test image preparation, implementation of a chosen thresholding operation, evaluation of threshold image, and implementation of segmentation procedure and its evaluation, supported by pertinent case studies. Aimed at researchers/graduate students in the medical image processing domain, image processing, and computer engineering, this book: Provides broad background on various image thresholding and segmentation techniques Discusses information on various assessment metrics and the confusion matrix Proposes integration of the thresholding technique with the bio-inspired algorithms Explores case studies including MRI, CT, dermoscopy, and ultrasound images Includes separate chapters on machine learning and deep learning for medical image processing

Book Synopsis Hybrid Image Acquisition and Signal Processing Systems for High Resolution by :
Download or read book Hybrid Image Acquisition and Signal Processing Systems for High Resolution written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary goal of the research was to investigate longitudinal and lateral resolving power of hybrid optical/digital imaging systems. Most loss of resolution is due to aberrations in the lens. The hybrid system modified the optics to be invariant to focus-related aberrations, yielding intermediate images with better lateral resolution. The post processing of the intermediate image resulted in a high-quality, high-resolution image. A matrix method was developed for analyzing imaging systems. A means was found for overcoming the effects of lack of spatial stationarity on hybrid systems. Channel reduction techniques were developed to do more efficient processing of color images. This allows only one channel of a three-color image to be processed, and then the color added back to the image. A new technique was developed for measuring the axial depth of an image that had an error of less than 0.1% of the distance. This was demonstrated to be effective for passive ranging.

Book Synopsis Digital Signal Processing System Design by : Nasser Kehtarnavaz
Download or read book Digital Signal Processing System Design written by Nasser Kehtarnavaz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-29 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital Signal Processing System Design combines textual and graphical programming to form a hybrid programming approach, enabling a more effective means of building and analyzing DSP systems. The hybrid programming approach allows the use of previously developed textual programming solutions to be integrated into LabVIEW's highly interactive and visual environment, providing an easier and quicker method for building DSP systems. This book is an ideal introduction for engineers and students seeking to develop DSP systems in quick time. Features: - The only DSP laboratory book that combines textual and graphical programming - 12 lab experiments that incorporate C/MATLAB code blocks into the LabVIEW graphical programming environment via the MathScripting feature - Lab experiments covering basic DSP implementation topics including sampling, digital filtering, fixed-point data representation, frequency domain processing - Interesting applications using the hybrid programming approach, such as a software-defined radio system, a 4-QAM Modem, and a cochlear implant simulator - The only DSP project book that combines textual and graphical programming - 12 Lab projects that incorporate MATLAB code blocks into the LabVIEW graphical programming environment via the MathScripting feature - Interesting applications such as the design of a cochlear implant simulator and a software-defined radio system
Book Synopsis Multidimensional Signal, Image, and Video Processing and Coding by : John W. Woods
Download or read book Multidimensional Signal, Image, and Video Processing and Coding written by John W. Woods and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2011-05-31 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multidimensional Signal, Image, and Video Processing and Coding gives a concise introduction to both image and video processing, providing a balanced coverage between theory, applications and standards. It gives an introduction to both 2-D and 3-D signal processing theory, supported by an introduction to random processes and some essential results from information theory, providing the necessary foundation for a full understanding of the image and video processing concepts that follow. A significant new feature is the explanation of practical network coding methods for image and video transmission. There is also coverage of new approaches such as: super-resolution methods, non-local processing, and directional transforms. Multidimensional Signal, Image, and Video Processing and Coding also has on-line support that contains many short MATLAB programs that complement examples and exercises on multidimensional signal, image, and video processing. There are numerous short video clips showing applications in video processing and coding, plus a copy of the vidview video player for playing .yuv video files on a Windows PC and an illustration of the effect of packet loss on H.264/AVC coded bitstreams. New to this edition: - New appendices on random processes, information theory - New coverage of image analysis – edge detection, linking, clustering, and segmentation - Expanded coverage on image sensing and perception, including color spaces - Now summarizes the new MPEG coding standards: scalable video coding (SVC) and multiview video coding (MVC), in addition to coverage of H.264/AVC - Updated video processing material including new example on scalable video coding and more material on object- and region-based video coding - More on video coding for networks including practical network coding (PNC), highlighting the significant advantages of PNC for both video downloading and streaming - New coverage of super-resolution methods for image and video - Only R&D level tutorial that gives an integrated treatment of image and video processing - topics that are interconnected - New chapters on introductory random processes, information theory, and image enhancement and analysis - Coverage and discussion of the latest standards in video coding: H.264/AVC and the new scalable video standard (SVC)

Book Synopsis New Achievements in Evolutionary Computation by : Peter Korosec
Download or read book New Achievements in Evolutionary Computation written by Peter Korosec and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2010-02-01 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evolutionary computation has been widely used in computer science for decades. Even though it started as far back as the 1960s with simulated evolution, the subject is still evolving. During this time, new metaheuristic optimization approaches, like evolutionary algorithms, genetic algorithms, swarm intelligence, etc., were being developed and new fields of usage in artificial intelligence, machine learning, combinatorial and numerical optimization, etc., were being explored. However, even with so much work done, novel research into new techniques and new areas of usage is far from over. This book presents some new theoretical as well as practical aspects of evolutionary computation. This book will be of great value to undergraduates, graduate students, researchers in computer science, and anyone else with an interest in learning about the latest developments in evolutionary computation.
