If you're in the market for a different kind of historical romance, or you enjoy stories filled with period detail, Hundreds of Years to Reform a Rake is a solid bet." wordcandybooks.blogspot.com "Brown's ending was clever and I never suspected Josie would choose the path she takes. I would recommend Hundreds of Years to Reform a Rake to anyone who enjoys paranormals, and even Regency fans who don't usually read them. Brown did an excellent job of combining the two genres." aladysdiversions.blogspot.com "A very enjoyable read with Josie a feisty and independent character, and Deverell the ghost and Deverell the man both also very appealing." curledup.com "Humor, mystery, ghosts, history, and… pure fun." blogcritics.org "A fresh tale that is as charming as it is hot!" zeekspage.blogspot.com "You'll be transported to another time and won't want to return until the very last page is digested." fantasybookspot.com

Book excerpt: The Reform'd Coquette (1724) tells the story of Amoranda, a good but flighty young woman whose tendency toward careless behavior is finally tamed. Familiar Letters Betwixt a Gentleman and a Lady (1725), a satire of both political debate and women's place in society, portrays a Tory man and a Whig woman who find themselves discussing love, even though they have pledged to remain platonic friends. The Accomplish'd Rake (1727) follows the exploits of Sir John Galliard from youth to manhood, when he is forced to accept responsibility for his actions. Mary Davys (1674?-1732) was one of the earliest female novelists in Britain, and after the death of her husband she supported herself by writing and running a coffeehouse. Her writing sparkles, especially in its witty dialogue. Although these three short epistolary novels are framed in a clear moral universe in which virtue is rewarded and transgressions is punished, her works are not overtly religious and punishment is as likely to come from society as from providence.

Enjoy this hilarious, bestselling Regency series. London is never the same once the Farthingales move onto Chipping Way, one of the loveliest streets in Mayfair. With five beautiful daughters in residence, the street has become a trap for unwary bachelors. Who will be next to fall? Daisy Farthingale protected her sister by taking blame for a scandalous incident that occurred during her sister’s debut season and now embarks upon her own entrance into society with a slight tarnish to her reputation. No one trusts her judgment when it comes to men, but Daisy is determined to redeem herself in the eyes of her beloved family by marrying the most honorable man she can find. Unfortunately, she finds herself falling in love with London’s most notorious rakehell, Lord Gabriel Dayne, a disreputable wastrel who may be spying for the French. What’s a girl to do? Fortunately, Daisy has gotten her hands on Lady Forsythia Haversham’s Rules for Reforming a Rake. Gabriel Dayne, younger son of the Earl of Trent, has spent the war years cultivating his image as a knave and drunken rakehell to hide his true occupation as a spy against Napoleon’s forces. His missions on the Continent have taken a harrowing physical toll on him as well as an emotional one. Sent home to recover from gunshot wounds acquired in a skirmish (though most of London Society believes he was shot by a jealous husband), he’s determined to enjoy the wastrel reputation he’s taken great pains to develop, for he soon expects to be recalled to battle. But the dangers he encountered in Napoleon’s war pale in comparison to the danger he faces from Daisy Farthingale, the beautiful slip of a girl who creates havoc with his heart from the moment he sets eyes upon her. Book excerpt: Set in a Regency London household, this “witty, charming, touching” novel is “highly recommended”(Library Journal). In London’s Mayfair, the house at 67 Clarges Street is often rented out for the social season, and the latest master is a single gentleman, the handsome, rich, and notorious rake Lord Guy Carlton. After years of fighting in the wars against Napoleon, the dashing lord is determined to kick up his heels with wine, women, and song, undeterred by anyone’s appalled reaction. Never before have the Clarges Street servants earned so much money or eaten so well—but their pleasure-loving master seems liable to die of dissipation. In desperation, the staff, led by the witty and resourceful butler, Rainbird, sets out to find a good woman who can calm the lord’s boisterous spirit and save his black soul. Their search ends with the discovery of Miss Esther Jones of Berkeley Square, a prim and righteous woman who seems the perfect reformer. But complications lie ahead and chaos reigns both above and below the stairs, as no one, not even Miss Jones herself, is prepared for the transformation that ultimately takes place. . . . Originally published under the name Marion Chesney, this delightful tale of romance and scheming comes from a New York Times–bestselling author who “adroitly manipulates the floating upstairs population that keeps the downstairs on its toes” (Publishers Weekly).

My Earl's Entrapment Lord William Addington has been forced into retirement as one of the Prince Regent's domestic spies. But he still has one case to solve while attending a house party when an adorably feisty lady enters him room in the middle of the night. He now has another delicious mystery on his hands. Why is Lady Roselyn Pennington snooping about? Rose is sure Lord Addington is a dullard at best and a criminal mastermind at worst. So why does her heart beat so rapidly every time he is near? And why does he rescue when she insists on landing herself into trouble time and again? It’s as though he isn’t the man everyone thinks he is or even the one he claims to be. My Duke's Desire Lady Violette knew two things for certain. She must make an advantageous match to save her family and the lord who agreed would be less than desirable. It didn’t matter that she wished to sail off on a great adventure. It wasn’t her choice to make. His Grace, The Duke of Waverly, had no intention marrying, no matter what his mother expected. That was one of the few advantages of being a duke and he’d sailed back from Barbados to inform her. On his journey home, however, a beautifully proper lady rescues him when his horse is injured. He can’t help but notice that Lady Violette is in need of rescuing herself. Much as she tempts him, he can’t be the man that saves her. My Wicked Earl Lord Rex Abelman, Earl of Casterly, has no intention of marrying. His life is that of an adventurer. But he cannot deny that Lady Daffodil is as sweet and funny as she is beautiful. Nor can help but wonder what life might be like if he were a better man. Rex is a rake and a rogue who has sworn off marriage. He is the last man Daffodil should give her attention. So why do her eyes drift to him at every opportunity?

One of Goodreads' Best Romances of July A RT Book Review Top Pick! “Sebastian proves she is a new force to be reckoned with in historical romances.”—Booklist Rogue. Libertine. Rake. Lord Courtenay has been called many things and has never much cared. But after the publication of a salacious novel supposedly based on his exploits, he finds himself shunned from society. Unable to see his nephew, he is willing to do anything to improve his reputation, even if that means spending time with the most proper man in London. Julian Medlock has spent years becoming the epitome of correct behavior. As far as he cares, if Courtenay finds himself in hot water, it’s his own fault for behaving so badly—and being so blasted irresistible. But when Julian’s sister asks him to rehabilitate Courtenay’s image, Julian is forced to spend time with the man he loathes—and lusts after—most. As Courtenay begins to yearn for a love he fears he doesn’t deserve, Julian starts to understand how desire can drive a man to abandon all sense of propriety. But he has secrets he’s determined to keep, because if the truth came out, it would ruin everyone he loves. Together, they must decide what they’re willing to risk for love.
